Hello Kipling Families,
Thank you for your support and understanding during our non-emergency lockdown on Tuesday. While the events that transpired that day are very troubling, and I hope all the best for the HPHS community, I am happy all our students were able to go through their day mostly unaffected. Aside from indoor recess, everything was business as usual here at Kipling and all our students were safe and in good spirits. We will always do everything possible to ensure our students are safe and cared for while here at Kipling.
I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. Our family was able to spend time with some family members who live in northern Arizona. While we are still paying the price for the two-hour time difference (I thought daylight savings night was bad!), it was so rewarding to see our boys connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors in the mountains. Most importantly, we all got to connect with close family who we haven’t seen in eight months. When you have strong bonds with others, it is easy to pick up where you left off and not notice how much time has passed since you’ve seen them. I was reminded on this trip, and I encourage all of you, to never let too much time pass before you get to see those who are most important to you.
It was great to reconnect with all our students this week as we begin our final push of the school year. As a reminder we have no school tomorrow, Friday, April 7th. We will see you on Monday.
Happy Holidays and all my best to you and your families this weekend!
Respectfully,
Mr. Matthew O. Lombardo, NBCT

5 Essentials Survey
Thank you to all the families who completed this survey for us! We did end up receiving 21% parent participation so we will have a report to share once all the surveys are finalized. Your support and partnership are invaluable to me. Thank you, again.
IAR Testing
3rd-5th Grade Students at Kipling will be participating in the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in English/Language Arts & Mathematics between April 11th and April 14th.
This state assessment helps us understand how students are growing academically year to year, while also providing an achievement comparison to grade-level peers across the state. By measuring both mastery of the Illinois Learning Standards and the College and Career Ready benchmarks of the PSAT and SAT, the IAR is also designed to help prepare students for success in high school and beyond. The overall performance of each school, by grade, also impacts our designation, which is reported on the Illinois School Report Card.
