Ways Parents Can Support Conceptual Understanding at Home
As an essential member of your child’s learning community, you play an important role helping them take their learning deeper. To help support your child's conceptual understanding at home, below are a few questioning techniques you can use to help them develop into a lifelong learner.
a. Value Process (Questions to ask your child.)
i. How did you do that?
ii. Why did you do that?
iii. What strategy did you use?
b. The Power of Key Concepts (These questions work for everything and every time.)
i. Form: What does it look like?
ii. Function: How does it work?
iii. Connection: How is it connected to other things?
iv. Change: How does change?
v. Causation: Why is it like that? Why is it the way it is?
vi. Perspective: What are the different points of view?
vii. Responsibility: What are our responsibilities?

Important Arrival/Dismissal Time Reminders for Elementary and Middle School
AM Carline Reminder:
For our elementary school students, we have noticed that there is little to no line to drop off students at 7:20 am, which provides an excellent opportunity for a smooth and stress-free drop-off experience. To give your child ample time to settle in and be ready for the start of their classes at 7:30 am, we kindly request that you aim to arrive prior to 7:30 am. Any student arriving late to school (7:30 AM for Elementary students and 8:30 AM for Middle School Students) will be marked as tardy. Parents will be required to park their vehicle and report to the front office to sign in your child. You will be required to bring in your ID to scan it through Raptor to record the tardy.
PM Carline Reminder:
For the safety of everyone involved and to prevent traffic congestion that can lead to accidents, we kindly request that you do not park your vehicles on Military Trail or Miner Road during dismissal times.
We understand that waiting can sometimes be inconvenient, but we encourage you to plan your arrival between 2:15 and 2:30 PM. This will not only reduce your wait time but also contribute to a safer and more organized dismissal process.
Please be aware that the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) has informed us that they will be issuing fines to individuals who park on Military Trail and Miner Road. We want to avoid any unnecessary fines and, more importantly, prioritize the safety of our school community.
Your cooperation in following these parking guidelines is greatly appreciated, as it ensures the well-being of all our students and families. Together, we can create a safer and more efficient dismissal experience.
Mid- Year Transportation Request Information:
We have spots available on our school busses. This year, our transporation vendor, Maranata has been much more reliable than the previous vendor. If you live more than 2 miles from campus but no further than the posted transportation zone and are interested, please click here for more information.
If you are interested, please complete a Mid-Year Transportation (Bus) Request form in PowerSchool to request busing. Link to how to view PowerSchool Forms.
Save the Date!
Important Reminder: Uniform Policy Adherence
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's uniform policy.
Our uniform policy plays a crucial role in maintaining a focused and disciplined learning environment, and it helps instill a sense of unity and pride among our students. To ensure that these objectives are met, we kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that your child is in proper uniform when attending school.
We are now enforcing the uniform policy, and students found out of uniform will receive infractions. We believe this step is necessary to uphold the standards we have set for our school community.
We understand that there may be instances where items are on back order. In such cases, we kindly request that you send an email to Mrs. L'Etoile at letoile.alison@franklin-academy.org with either the iUniforms receipt for the items you've ordered or an email confirmation indicating that the items are on back order. This will help us keep track of any delays and ensure that students are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control.
Please remember that all uniform items must be purchased through iUniforms to maintain consistency in quality and design. http://www.iuniforms.com/
We greatly appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.
