A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Each year from September 15th to October 15th, we as a country celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. During this month, Rainbow takes time to celebrate the history, cultures, language, and contributions of Hispanic people to our world. This is also an opportunity for us as a school to affirm and demonstrate our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity for all of our students, staff, and community.
During National Hispanic Heritage Month, our morning announcements are going to take students on a journey through time, across borders, and even space to provide them with a snapshot of the infinite number of contributions Hispanic changemakers have brought to our world. Be sure to ask your student about the changemaker of the week!
Kind Regards,
Mrs Stauffer

Acadience Universal Screening Reading and Math
Dear Rainbow Families,
This month our staff will be meeting individually with each student to complete brief assessments as a progress check on students’ reading and math skills by administering the Acadience Universal Screeners in reading and math. Much like measuring a child's height and weight, this assessment provides an indicator of a child's overall growth in reading and math. The purpose of the assessments are to obtain baseline data on the strengths and weaknesses of individual students in reading and math and to guide the teacher's classroom instruction.
Acadience Reading and Acadience Math is used to identify children who may need extra help and to check up on those children while they receive the extra help to make sure they are academic progress. Acadience Reading also may be used to make decisions about how well our school’s overall reading and math programs are working for all children. Acadience Reading and Acadience Math will not be used to grade your child. We are working hard at school to make sure that every child is on target for success, and we thank you for your efforts at home.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Maria Stauffer, Principal
Mr. Jeff Kuciapinski, Assistant Principal

When to keep your child home from school
As we head into cooler months, we are starting to see more sickness -flu, colds, sore throats, and coughs. Sometimes it’s difficult to decide whether to keep your child at home. Here are some general guidelines to follow to help keep our staff and students healthy!
Per the school policy, please keep your child at home if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:
- fever (temperature 99.8 or higher), chills
- persistent cough
- unusual skin rash
- abdominal pain
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- sore throat
- congestion/ runny nose (not associated with seasonal allergies)
- pink, crusty eyes
Children should remain at home at least 24 hours without fever or vomiting/diarrhea following an illness.
