Attention Military Families
If you are a military family, and have not done so already, please consider signing your student up for the MFLC (military family life counselor) program at LES. Your student will take part in lunch bunches, where they will participate in various activities weekly with other students and the MFLC counselor, Anni Christensen. The focus will be on the military child experience such as a parent deployment, change of schools and friendships. The student can also attend individual sessions if appropriate.
The parental consent form is attached, and it can be forwarded to the student’s teacher or the MFLC counselor, Anni Christensen, at abchristensen@contracted.smcps.org.
Student Attendance
Most students at LES attend with regularity and many families take the time to report student absences. For the 2nd half of this school year, we will be working with families to limit the number of late-arrivals and early pick-ups. Though 15 minutes may not seem like a lot, repeated disruptions to the school day can have an undesired cumulative effect. We realize some absences are unavoidable, but we also know when students miss too much school, regardless of the reason, it can cause them to fall behind academically. Documentation of an absence must be sent to school within three (3) days of an absence, either with a written note, phone call, email, or through the school website portal.
