Happy Harvest!
This week you will have some time to connect with your child's teacher. Build that partnership that will help your child feel that they are part of a TEAM effort! Everyone is there to coach and support them to get to that finish line! We encourage you to ask questions and see how you can best support your child.

Use Literature to Foster Wonderings
Families should follow the child’s interests and curiosities and expand upon them to build a world of information around books they read.
Search for the setting of the book on the internet.
Visit a location in the book or use the book to take a virtual tour.
Keep a wall of wonderings.
The Starfish Story
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said, “I made a difference for that one.”
Submit your ideas, activities, or wonderings about the value of having Curiosity to our email down below.
Celebrate a Sweet and Healthy Halloween!
October is a wonderful time to start new traditions. Celebrating Halloween in a healthy way isn’t about giving up all the treats. Including family fun activities with limited sweets is a great way to enjoy the season. A scavenger hunt – give your kids a list of Halloween themed things to look for outdoors, like different types of decorations or hide stickers, small plastic spiders or themed pencils and erasers for them to find. Hold a virtual costume party online or have a Halloween craft or pumpkin carving party with the family. Don’t have a pumpkin? Decorate tangerines to look like pumpkins. Use themed cookie cutters to make your favorite food look ghoulishly delicious! Above all, enjoy quality time together.
