Message from Mrs. Tremps
Dear Brandywine Community,
As we step into the month of February, I am excited to share important updates and information. There are six weeks left in the third quarter and our spring will be very busy! I am confident the rest of the school year will be filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences for students, staff, and families.
Applications for Dual Language Immersion are open for 2024-2025. We are proud of our growing program and are accepting applications through May 15th. Brandywine is hosting an informal virtual information session on Thursday, February 8 at 5:30 PM. We will provide an overview of the program and have time for Q&A. See below for important links:

January's Heritage Night was a huge success! We had an amazing turnout, and our participation was record-breaking. Thank you to all of those who hosted a table and/or gave a performance. Also, thank you to the families who came to celebrate our diversity! February is Black History Month, and we will continue to celebrate the rich diversity within our school community. Throughout the month we will be incorporating special lessons and activities that highlight the contributions of African Americans to our history and society. Also in February, our fantastic PTO is hosting the annual Father Daughter Dance. It will be on Saturday, February 10 at 6 PM. Ticket information was sent home with your students. There is also a long weekend in February. No school for students on Friday, February 16th, Monday, February 19th, and Tuesday, February 20th. We hope you enjoy the time off!
Brandywine is expected to lose approximately 140 students due to redistricting. This means our staff will decrease and there will be some changes in personnel for the 2024-2025 school year. We are sad to lose some Badgers but are sure they will be successful on their new adventures! Our students changing schools will be recognized this Spring.
Last but not least, we are thrilled to be able to purchase new playground equipment! Thanks to our Read-A-Thon fundraiser and the incredible generosity of North Point Community Church - Be Rich, we hope to see our new playset on the playground this Spring! Please consider donating $10 towards the installation. Checks may be written to Brandywine Elementary PTO. Cash is also accepted. We appreciate your partnership!
As always, do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. dtremps@forsyth.k12.ga.us 770-667-2585 x 480138.

Upcoming Library Events
Tonight is "Read with a Highschooler Night" at Denmark High School from 6-7pm in their media center. Students will pair up with a high schooler and they will choose books to read together. While students are reading, parents will learn about resources that the Forsyth County Public Library has to offer.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming very soon! Students will preview on February 7th or 8th and will come shopping with their class on February 9th, 12th, 13th, 14th, or 15th. We will also have a family night on February 10th from 4pm-6pm (before the Father-Daughter Dance). Visit our Book Fair website to sign to volunteer, buy books online, or set up an eWallet for your child.
From the PTO
There is a lot going on with PTO in February. PTO is having a fundraiser for the installation of the new playground. Flyers will be sent home this week. February 5th-9th we are doing a Valentine Smencil Gram sale. For $1 your child can have a note and smencil delivered to a friend at school on Valentine's day. February 10th is the annual Father Daughter Dance. Our theme this year is a luau. Fathers bust out your flowered shirts and grab a grass skirt for your daughter! It's going to be a party. Don't forget Moms, next month is our Mother and Son's night!

Counselor's Corner
Hi there, Badgers! February is finally here, and it’s packed. The past month has been dedicated to our safety lessons, so we are looking forward to shifting gears and starting our kindness lessons. Speaking of kindness…we will have our Kindness Week February 12-15. In celebration, we will be having a Kindness Challenge; each class will start by signing a kindness pledge and work towards completing five other tasks for a chance to win a popcorn party. During this Kindness Week, we always like to remind students that kindness should be year-round, not just during these four days (“Be Kind” is our honorary fourth B).
Did you know we do parent and family events at Brandywine? If not, you’re in luck! We host our own Coffee & Conversations as a chance to connect our counseling and admin department with families and discuss popular topics going on in school and at home. This year we’ve covered the Red Zone and PBIS, technology safety, and strategies for challenging behaviors at home. If you haven’t been able to attend one yet, no worries! We have one more planned for the spring so be on the lookout for more information and mark your calendars.
In other news, we have National School Counseling Week February 5-9. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success. Ms. Lundy and I absolutely love what we do as school counselors and love having the opportunity to work with amazing students and families. We are so fortunate to be at Brandywine. We recognize that we wouldn’t be successful without having the support from our teachers, staff, and families. Thank YOU for your continued support to our counseling program. We are truly grateful.
We hope you have a fantastic February, Badgers!
