Thoughts from Dr. Voelkl
HAPPY FALL BREAK TO ALL!!! We extend a tremendous amount of thanks and gratitude to all of you for the appreciation you have shown us over these past few months. It has certainly been a roller coaster of a ride and we are grateful for the opportunity to catch our breath before moving forward on the next leg of our journey. Below you will find a few additional schedule changes as we move into the next quarter. We have discovered that one of the greatest gifts we can give our faculty is time...time to plan, to collaborate, to reflect and simply accomplish the myriad of tasks that do not fit into the regular school day while delivering instruction. We will update everyone as these dates get closer with potential childcare options. Thank you again for the gift of your children. They continue to inspire, motivate, and challenge all of us, while also brining us countless moments of joy and laughter.
Love and blessings,
Dr. Voelkl

Getting to know you- Nurse Quarando
Casey Quarando
Married? Yes
years married? 11 years
Children/animals: Yes! Avery is 10, 4th grade, Amelia, 8, is in 3rd grade, and Aria, 7, is in 2nd grade. No animals, yet.
Who is your hero? I think I have 2, both of my grandmothers. One was a 5th grade teacher for many years and I always looked up to her for her kindness and willingness to give. My other grandmother worked in a kitchen at a school and she was a very caring person and would do anything for anyone.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I would love to live on a beach somewhere, anywhere it is warm.
What is your favorite family vacation? Anywhere with a beach. We went to Miami last summer, and it was one of the most memorable family vacations we have had
What is your favorite thing about being a nurse? I have always loved caring for others, and I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a caregiver. My favorite thing would have to be making people feel better.
What is your proudest accomplishment? My kids. They are pretty cool people, I think :)
What makes you laugh the most? My husband always said that I would get tired of his jokes one day, but he still makes me laugh the most.
If money was no object, what would you do all day? I think I would spend the day with my mom and girls and go shopping somewhere fun
If you could share a meal with 4 people, living or dead who would they be? My grandma Irene, my Grandma Goldie, my mom and my cousin Adam (he died when he was 25 and we were very close growing up). I’m sure we would eat lasagna, our family's favorite salad, and a chocolate sheet cake
What is your favorite Holiday? Christmas! I love the family time, the decorations, and being able to give.
What is your favorite food? Tacos!
Treat? Cherry Cheesecake
If you had a warning label, what would it say? I feel like I don’t need a label- my hair says it all (or so I have been told)
Who was your favorite teacher in school and why? Probably my band teacher, Mr. Bauche. He kept all of his students in line while being funny and kind.
What is your favorite family tradition? Christmas. Every year since I can remember we spend Christmas Eve at my grandparents house in Fredericktown, and for the past 5 years we have hosted my immediate family at our house on Christmas day.
If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be? I don’t know if I necessarily relate to it, but I have loved giraffes since I did a report on them in third grade. Maybe it’s the long necks?

Thank you all so much for being a part of our Halloween safety program this year! While it’s been difficult to step back from events around the county, we appreciate your help in making sure that the kids in this county are staying safe for Halloween. Attached you’ll find two flyers with safety tips for adults & children, and as well as this link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQiH6qIF_q8)
to a video we made in partnership with the St. Charles County Library where we highlight some safety tips, give a virtual ambulance tour, & read a not so scary Halloween story. We would love if you could send the flyer to your parents through your parent portal, and the video would make a fun addition to your classrooms if you’re interested.
8th Grader's first Broadcast-Watch it!
Our students have produced their first Broadcast video of the year! Learn about Halloween!!!

This past Saturday, 48 participants from Cub Scout Pack 351 journeyed to Rockwood Reservation for a Pack Hike & Picnic.
