The SCOM Ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 15th at 7:45 am in the Cafeteria. Parents and Guardians of the SCOM recipients are welcome to attend.
Hallway Decorating Competition 2022!
Paper snowflakes, Christmas lights, presents the size of doors, and letters to Santa are just the start of the holiday spirit adorning the hallways at HMS.
We are asking for YOUR votes!
Beginning December 16th, a link to the Hallway Decorating Competition Voting Form will be sent out in our newsletter. Vote early and often as the grade-level that receives the most votes will win the coveted Trophy of Light!
Baton Twirling Classes
This is a great opportunity which can lead to students becoming a majorette for their school and a scholarship to college!

Come join the fun and learn how to twirl a baton!
Baton twirling is making a comeback as the latest and
greatest sensation! Don’t miss out on all the fun!
- Dates: Every Tuesday beginning February 7th and ending May 30th
- Times: Ages 4-7, 6:15-7:00 p.m.
- Ages 8-18, 7:00-7:45 p.m.
- Registration: On February 7th at the first class. [In the event class is cancelled the first week because of bad weather, class will begin the following week. Check www.athleticsensations.com or call 616-460-1747 for cancellation information.]
- Location: The Hall (in Overisel), 4201 47th Street, Holland, MI, 49423
- Cost: $9/week to be paid at each class. $10 registration fee to be paid at first class. Batons available for purchase at class for $35. Payment plans for batons available: $20 the first week, then $5 each week until paid off.
Students can earn awards!
Our baton twirling classes not only focus on teaching children how to
twirl a baton, our classes encourage teamwork, poise, hand-eye
coordination, as well as help children build their self-esteem. Students
learn baton twirling tricks in class as well as routines. Students will also
have an opportunity to be in a competition and parades.
Christmas Cookie Decorating
The HMS Culture Committee is looking for donations of frosting and sprinkles!
Our students are frosting Christmas cookies at lunch on Monday, December 19!
Donations can be brought in to the HMS office by Friday, December 16.
Thanks for helping to make a fun Christmas experience for our students!

HMS Drop off/Pick up
Dear Parents and Guardians,
There have been some concerns regarding student safety and our Drop Off/Pick Up procedures. Please follow the recommendations below:
DO NOT
Do not drop off on the west side of Clark street and have students cross the road
Do not perform a U-turn in the middle of Clark street to get to the east side of the road
DO
Pull over on the provided shoulder just to the south of the main sidewalk on Clark Street
Thank you for helping keep our students safe!

BREAKFAST IS AVAILABLE DAILY IN THE CAFETERIA AT 7:30AM FOR $1.50 OR $.30 FOR REDUCED STUDENTS. HOT AND COLD ITEMS AVAILABLE ALONG WITH FRESH FRUITS AND MILK. GREAT WAY TO START YOUR SCHOOL DAY!
Cell phones are to be turned off and kept in their lockers during the school day. Cell phones that are used during the school day will be confiscated and must be picked up by a parent.
If a student needs to contact a parent/guardian, they can go to the office to either use their cell phone or call from the office phone. If a parent needs to reach a student, they can leave a message for their student with the office.
