Principal's Message

Hello Seco Families,

We are now in the stretch run as we have less than three weeks left in the 2nd quarter. We are excited about the upcoming break, and we also want to keep encouraging our children to do their best and finish the semester strong.

We have a number of performances and events occurring this time of year. We have our Band concert on December 4, Choir concert on December 6, and Drama Production on December 12 and 13. We look forward to seeing many of you there.

This next week, students will be participating in the worldwide Hour of Code in one of their classes. This event is designed to introduce students to computer science and inspire them to learn more. For more information about this event, please go to HourOfCode.com.

Our "December to Remember" Dance is December 14th from 6 to 8. Please note that this is no longer a formal dance. Students are encouraged to dress a little nicer than school attire but certainly do not need to purchase formal wear. Tickets will be on sale for $16 through December 7th, or earlier if we sell out.

Seco Games will take place on the morning of December 20, which is the last day of the semester. Please note that, unlike last year, Seco Games will last only a couple of hours -- students will then attend all of their classes on an abbreviated schedule, with normal dismissal time.

Cell Phone Use on Campus

Here is a reminder about student use of cell phones on campus (excerpted from the binder reminder):

"Cell phones are to be turned off and put away before arriving to class or before entering any school building; including restrooms and locker rooms."

Thank you for reinforcing this message with your child. Please note that if you text or call your child during class time, they are expected to wait until after class to respond. If you need to get in touch with your child regarding an emergency during class time, please contact the school office. Thank you, as always, for your support.

Career Pathway Panels

Arroyo Seco is hosting Career Pathway Panels for our 8th Grade students. On these panels, we include instructors from the pathways, as well as students in the pathways at Saugus High School. We also love to invite parents working in that industry to add their perspective. The audience is typically about 20-40 students, and there is no preparation needed. We have a moderator that will keep the conversation going, and our students have an opportunity for Q&A at the end. We would love to have your support!
