Talley Street Update
August 25, 2022
December 8, 2022
Dear Talley Community,
I hope everyone is having a great week. We need your help ensuring that the hundreds of students who arrive and depart Talley via the carline each day do so safely and efficiently.
Please abide by the following procedures:
Pull forward as far as possible instead of stopping by the door to drop off/pick up your child.
Please have your child prepare to get out of the car as you are pulling into the parking lot (backpack ready, goodbyes said, etc.).
Please do not get out of your car. Let a staff member know if you need help.
Please allow your child to exit the vehicle independently on the right (sidewalk) side of your vehicle after you have come to a full stop. A staff member will assist if help carrying a project, etc. is needed.
Encourage your child to promptly head into the building. You may pull into a parking space if they need more time. Thank you for helping us ensure an efficient and smooth car rider line!
Thank you to the parents who have completed the Georgia Parent Survey. Even with the completed surveys, we need to get the participation rate higher. Low participation can impact the school’s CCRPI score. The survey was developed to measure parent perceptions of school climate at their child’s school. We value your input and all responses are confidential. The link to the survey is below.
Have a great afternoon!
Billy
Lost and Found Purge
The lost and found is overflowing! Please have your child check to see if anything is theirs. We will purge the lost and found TOMORROW (Friday, December 9)!

Good Troublemaker Award
The late Congressman John Lewis was known for his famous plea to all humans fighting for social justice. “Speak up, speak out, get in the way. Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America.” Who in this district, or in your building, has actions that speak louder than their words when it comes to being a good troublemaker for equity? Honor them by telling us more about their actions as champions for equitable educational outcomes in CSD.
Nominate someone else or yourself for the Good Equity Troublemaker Award here by Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 11:59 PM. Contact Anthony Downer at adowner@csdecatur.net with any questions or for more info.

Decatur Education Foundation
If you have a K-5th grade student, you likely saw our flyer last week that shows all the ways in which a donation to DEF can help Decatur students. We are not only working to solve the problems that our kids face, we’re also in the business of creating possibilities for students to reach their full potential. We cannot do that without the support of the community. You can help us with a year-end contribution in any amount (every dollar counts), at www.decatureducationfoundation.org/donate. Together we can make a difference for #OurKids! Thank you for your support.
Another way to give: You can donate to our Lighten the Load program which keeps the snack pantry stocked at Beacon Hill Middle School. For those families in our community experiencing food insecurity, we also have a weekend backpack program. Both have unique Amazon wish lists that are updated monthly. You can donate directly to them using these links:
