BASHAW SCHOOL UPDATE
September 22, 2023
Mr. Craig Dimond - Principal
Hello Rebels,
I am very excited to be rejoining the Bashaw school community. I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those who may not know me as I am looking forward to working closely with everyone.
In 2000 I earned my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. That winter I began my teaching career in Victoria School of Performing Arts in Edmonton. The following year I moved to the Bashaw community with my family and began teaching at the Bashaw school. This is where I taught High School Science/Math and option courses. In 2005, I became the Assistant principal at the Bashaw School and commenced my Master of Education degree in Administration from the University of Portland. I became the principal of the Bashaw School in 2014. In 2017, I transferred to the École Camrose Composite High School as an Assistant Principal. Throughout my career, I have strived to be the best servant leader that I could for my staff, students and community.
In my tenure as an administrator, I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the design and construction of the new Bashaw School. Having an opportunity to be in on the ground floor of this project allowed me to learn a great deal of this process and to have a voice in the transition of our students into their new home. I have been involved in the creation of a Vocational program in a rural setting with the additions of welding, construction and mechanics. I am a passionate supporter of all extra curricular activities. Within my career, I have coached many different sports as it has been a passion of mine. I have always been an advocate of the rural community by being a part of this in volunteerism and enjoying the results of this with my family.
I am truly excited to be able to return to the Bashaw school community and I hope that everyone is safe and healthy.
Mrs. Shawna Johnson - Assistant Principal
Hello! My name is Shawna Johnson and I am the Assistant Principal of Bashaw School. Last year was my first year as Assistant Principal and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am very pleased to be returning in this role. Bashaw School is an amazing place to be. I am looking forward to working with the students, staff, and parents again this year.
Krista Lanz - Family School Liaison Worker (FSLW)
Candice McLeod - Grade 3 Homeroom
I am the new Grade 3 Teacher at Bashaw School and I am excited to be joining such an amazing team of educators! As part of my assignment this year, I am also teaching Physical Education and Wellness to Grades 2 and 6 students. I have been teaching for 23 years and I have taught in Chestermere, Calgary, Tofield, Camrose, and Viking. I have taught all grades from K-12. For the last 7 years, alongside teaching, I worked in leadership roles as a Division Learning Consultant, Assistant Principal, and Principal.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dogs, working out, camping, quadding, and travelling. I am looking forward to meeting families and community members and I would like to thank everyone in both the school and the community for the warm welcome. It's going to be an amazing year!
Jordan Andriatz - Grade 4 Homeroom
Hello everyone. My name is Jordan Andriatz and I am the new Grade 4 teacher. I used to be a student at Bashaw school and so I am thrilled to be back as a teacher. I was around in the school during 2021 so you may recognize my face. I have been away in Ontario for the last couple years where I was teaching and got married! While I was away I really missed the staff and students. Everyone is so friendly and kind here! I look forward to getting to know everyone even better and being the best grade 4 teacher that I can be.
