Taylor ES Giving Tree
As the Holiday Season approaches, so many of you reach out to ask how you can help. This year we are doing something new! In our lobby you will find our Giving Tree. On this tree you will find tags that represent a student and a need they have for this Holiday Season. If you would like to help, please take a tag and see Ms. Richards in the front office. Thank you for being such a supportive community!
Please Join Us for our Annual Holiday Luncheons
We are excited to welcome our families for our annual Holiday Luncheons December 5th, 6th & 7th. The dates for each grade level are listed below.
Tuesday, Dec. 5th - 5th Grade & 2nd Grade
Wednesday, Dec. 6th - 4th Grade & 3rd Grade
Thursday, Dec. 7th - 1st Grade & Kindergarten
Please plan to come during your student's regularly scheduled lunch time.
Be sure to check the lunch schedule to make sure you have the correct time to visit and plan to arrive about 5 minutes early in order to sign-in and purchase lunch tickets if you are eating. Tap HERE for our current lunch schedule.
Adult lunch is $4.00. Please try to have exact change as we are not able to break large bills. As a reminder no fast food of any kind is permitted to be brought in for lunch. Visitors will pay for lunch in the lobby prior to entering the cafeteria.
Please Note: Grade levels not scheduled for Holiday Luncheons will be eating in their classrooms those days. Due to space limitations, we ask that you not plan to visit your child for lunch on days they are eating in their classrooms.
Winter Coats & Lost and Found
Please send in jackets/weather appropriate gear daily. Students will go outside even if it's cold.
Also, please check our lost and found when you are here for holiday events. We have a number of coats, jackets, sweaters, hats and lunchboxes waiting to be reunited with their owners.

2nd & 3rd Grade Winter Musical Programs
December 8, 2023
2nd Grade - 10:00 am/3rd Grade- 1:45 pm
Rodgers and Hammerstein. Lennon and McCartney. Webber and Rice. Songwriting collaborations - where one person writes the music and another writes the lyrics - have been around for ages. But then it begs the question: Where would the music be without the lyrics? And where would the lyrics be without the music? To answer this, we visit the songwriters of Fa La La Land, who are actively engaged in creating their latest cooperative effort for the upcoming holiday season.
Parents - watch for more information from your child's teacher.
IEP Parent Information Meeting
Tuesday, December 5th
4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Please join Mrs. Simmons and some of our Special Education teachers for an informative session on the IEP process.
A Note from Mrs. Lovejoy in the Media Center
Hello families! Our goal every single day is to get books in the hands of kids so we can foster a lifelong love of reading and further their relationship with literacy; however...
We are seeing MANY books coming in damaged and ruined. We also have MANY books getting LOST and never returned to school! 😳😖😢
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be careful with your library books and follow these Book Care Rules!!!
- NO FOOD OR DRINKS near books. (Put water bottles on the OUTSIDE of your backpacks)
- Do NOT DRAW OR COLOR in books!!!
- Turn pages GENTLY from the CORNERS of the pages.
- Read with CLEAN HANDS!
- RETURN books into BACKPACKS every night after reading. (Even though books are kept for 1 week for K-2nd and 2 weeks for 3rd-5th)
- Know your CLASS LIBRARY DAY so you can return your books ON TIME!
- Keep books AWAY FROM TODDLERS AND PETS who do not know these rules.
If we all work together, we can KEEP OUR BOOKS SAFE!!!
STEM/Science Fair
STEM/Science Fair for Grades 3-5
Please u se this link to access information to help your child complete a Science/STEM fair project. Your child may choose any of the 7 problems provided by GCPS. In an attempt to provide everyone an opportunity to complete a project without the need to buy any supplies, I provided a template for problem #6. If you help your child create a Scratch account, then your child may use the template to complete a Scratch presentation and enter their project electronically. If you have any questions, please email Mr. Findlay. Thank you for your support!
