Half-way through 1st Quarter!
Time sure flies when you're having fun! I cannot believe that it is already Mid-quarter. It seems like just yesterday w,e were starting the year off. In this short time, I have come to love this school and community. All our students, teachers, and staff make this a fantastic place to work and call home. I know as the year progresses, we can lose sight of what matters or lose our way. I encourage each of you to take a moment, breathe deep and find time to connect and build meaningful relationships with your student and colleagues.
This past week I was speaking with a community member about a few things, and they brought up that one of the reasons they have stayed in Sheldon is because of the school. They talked about the teachers and staff members who have positively impacted their lives and know their kids feel the same. We may not see the positive every day, but the reality is we have a rare opportunity to truly impact the lives of our students in a positive way.
This past week our students had the opportunity to attend several extracurricular activities and events. FFA, volleyball, football, and cross country all had events or trips. I know our students enjoy these activities, and I encourage you to come out and support them whenever possible. If you cannot make it out, I would encourage you to discuss the events with your students as a meaningful way to connect with them.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you for the work you do every day. We have had a few PD opportunities recently and have some coming up on October 3rd. I encourage you to look for ways to grow professionally. If there is a PD opportunity you wish to attend, please talk to me so I can try and help you make that opportunity a reality.
Teacher Spotlight
Educating Future Mad Scientists!
I was lucky enough to come in during one interesting lesson where students had to write down steps for correctly assembling a project. With those steps in hand, other groups tried to replicate the project. It was a fun experience. I believe the students learned a great deal about the intricacy required for such systems.
I know project-based learning can be difficult and harder to apply in some subjects, but I would encourage each of you to look for ways to get students thinking outside the box and working together.
I tried to find a picture of her to include, but apparently, she avoided the camera expertly the last week or two.

Quote of the Week

What we do matters every day. What matters just as much if not more is how we go about doing it.
