Davis Bilingual Magnet
December Newsletter
Dear Davis Families,
As we approach the end of 2023, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for contributing to the incredible success of our school's first semester. It has been a journey filled with growth, achievement, and a strong sense of community, and I am truly thankful for the unwavering support we have received from our dedicated families.
As we immerse ourselves in the enchanting spirit of December, it brings me great joy to share details about a cherished tradition at our school—the Annual Las Posadas Procession. This event has become a beloved celebration, and we invite you and your family to join us for an evening of cultural richness, community spirit, and festive joy.
- Date: Friday, December 8th
- Time: 5:30 PM
- Starting Point: Plaza Valenzuela
- Route: Through the vibrant streets of Barrio Anita
- Ending Point: Oury Recreation Center
What to Expect: Our Las Posadas procession is a cultural event that will commence at Plaza Valenzuela at 5:30 PM, where we will gather for the beginning of our festive journey. Led by our incredible Mariachi Aguilitas, the procession will wind its way through the heart of Barrio Anita, culminating at the Oury Recreation Center. To add to the warmth of the occasion, we'll be serving delicious pan dulce/cookies, hot cocoa, and coffee at the Oury Recreation Center. It's an opportunity for our community to come together, share in the joy of the season, and enjoy some delightful treats as we celebrate Las Posadas.
We encourage all families to participate in the procession by joining the walk along the route. Together, we will embrace the joyful atmosphere of this cultural celebration. We can't wait to celebrate Las Posadas with you, creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of unity within our Davis Bilingual community. Your support will help make this event even more special for our community.
Donations Needed: If you're interested donating for the event we are in need of the following items:
- Hot Cocoa Packets
- Pan Dulce
- Cookies
Looking Ahead to 2024: As we bid farewell to 2023, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and growth that the coming year will bring. Our commitment to providing a nurturing and enriching educational experience remains unwavering, and we look forward to continuing this journey with your support.
On behalf of the entire Davis Bilingual family, I wish you a joyous holiday season filled with warmth and connection. May the upcoming year bring prosperity, good health, and continued success to each and every one of you.
Thank you for being an integral part of our wonderful school community.
Warm regards,
Marisela Campillo

Improving Reading and Math at Home
We are continuously working to ensure our students make academic growth in math and reading . You can help us by encouraging your student to read nightly and/or work on one of TUSD's educational platforms. Research shows that doing just one extra session a day can have a tremendous impact on student learning. All students at Davis have access to wonderful resources such as Learning A-Z, and ST Math to support their continued growth in Reading and Math.
To access the various platforms, students just log into their Clever accounts and select the icons. Please contact your student's teacher if they have any trouble.

Davis Bilingual Magnet welcomes families who want to volunteer on campus. To volunteer, please fill out the Volunteer Online Application.
Free and Reduced Lunch
Davis Bilingual Magnet receives funding based on the number of qualifying lunch applications submitted. The money received is used to fund a full-time certified position. Regardless of whether or not you choose to eat school lunch, please submit an application. All qualifying applications directly impact the funding our school receives. Once an application is submitted, you are able add money to your child's lunch account. Please fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch Application.
Tax Credit Donation
Now through April 15th, 2024, you can take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax Credit to pay the income tax you owe directly to Davis Bilingual Magnet. In the state of Arizona, you get your tax credit contribution back subject to the limits of your tax liability.
What should I mark when I make my donation online?
We are especially grateful for donations marked “Undesignated,” as that allows us to put your donation towards a specialist position on our campus (P.E., Garden, Art, etc). Thank you for supporting us as we raise funds to keep these important positions.
What if I already made a payment for Extended Day?
Many of you made a payment for Extended Day. Kindly note that you may be able to take advantage of the federal Child and Dependent Care Credit, as Extended Day supports parents who pay for childcare so that they may work outside of the home. Please consult your tax professional for more details. This may allow you to make an additional contribution to Davis (in addition to Extended Day) and claim the Arizona tax credit, for up to $400, per the information above.
