In the round of 16, the Cobras battled against a tall, physical Weston McEwen team. After dismantling the Tigerscots 50-28, the team was headed to Pendleton. Central Linn Equestrian Team
This year our team is a relatively young team. They strive to improve with each competition. We have seen all of them set and achieve personal goals. We, as their coaches, thoroughly enjoy this group of athletes. This is a very physically demanding sport. We rise and are ready to go at 6 am each morning for four mornings. Sometimes we do not make it to bed until well after 10 pm after caring for animals. Moving equipment that exceeds our own weight by hundreds of pounds and walking miles and miles each day are just some of the things we endure. Each of our athletes pull their fair share. It is cold and it is wet. Our parents are doing an amazing job keeping all of us fed and hydrated at our competitions.
We depend on our parents for a lot and they are instrumental to our success. We can't thank them enough. As of right now, our athletes are looking really good to qualify for state competitions in May. We could not be more proud of them. Watch for the list of athletes who will be competing at the state level. We have our last meet/competition of the season coming up from April 21 to 23 at the Linn Co Fair and Expo. It is free to come and watch the Central Linn team compete with their equine partners. Many fun events to watch. A couple of the big events to watch is drill on Saturday night around 6 pm. This is an event where audience participation through cheering is highly encouraged. Sunday is game day with events like barrel racing and pole bending. We encourage anyone interested in seeing these courageous kids and horses compete to come and watch them. At the April 22nd meet there is a special flag ceremony to honor this year's senior athletes. It is a lot of fun to watch, followed directly by the drill team performances. We want to thank the Central Linn School District for their continued support.
