A Message from Dr. Kaczkowski
Covid Update for November 6, 2020
District 41 Community,
All five District 41 schools will continue to offer in-person learning on Monday, November 9. Families can expect that in-person learning will continue beyond Monday, unless otherwise notified. Each day we look at the county and state-wide data related to COVID-19. Most importantly, we monitor our district data which is examined for both health and operational considerations. In my conversations with the DuPage County Health Department, we remain confident that the mitigation strategies we have in place will help reduce the spread of the virus in schools.
There are five factors that we monitor daily to determine if we are able to continue offering in-person learning. The factors are health data, exclusionary requirements, staffing, safety protocols/equipment, and parent responsibilities.
One way for us to help keep our school communities as safe as possible is to add another layer to our mitigation strategy. In addition to socially distancing, wearing masks, enhanced cleaning procedures, etc., the district is considering a voluntary COVID-19 surveillance testing program for in-person staff and students. The Board of Education has been discussing this possibility and has explored a number of programs for consideration. Surveillance testing is again on the Board meeting agenda for this coming Monday, November 9 at 7 p.m. Parents and staff who are currently in the blended model were sent an email from me today with a link to a surveillance testing interest form. Please fill this form out before Monday, November 9 at noon so that we can share the data with the Board prior to the meeting Monday evening.
I will continue to communicate regularly and provide as much information as possible so that you can prepare your family for any upcoming possible changes. As more people in our community become exposed to the virus and know of friends and family who are testing positive, I send all of my best wishes for your health and safety.
