Community Check-In
North Rockland Central School District
North Rockland Families:
This week brought warmer weather and the first official day of spring (March 21)!
We welcome this new season of growth and renewal, excited to take advantage of the changes it brings by: spending time outside, encouraging curiosity and expanding learning from the classroom to the District’s new Outdoor Learning Pavilions.
With the addition of these innovative instruction structures, during the coming warmer months, North Rockland will be busy developing cross-curricular units, including lessons where students get to move about, be active or explore, engage in group work and nature-based programs, clean up our local environments and have additional opportunities to be creative and make choices about what they want to study.
These new state of the art outdoor learning spaces and pavilions were made possible through careful and responsible budgeting for the 2022-23 school year. Our budget for the 2023-24 school year is once again planned to effectively and equitably use financial resources to provide more cutting edge technologies to improve our schools opportunities for growth and overall excellence.
Our buildings are truly a reflection of our community and it is our priority in North Rockland to ensure we are not only conservative but consider our residents and while supporting students' needs, both socially and educationally. We have worked hard with local lawmakers, the state and successfully applied for millions of dollars in grants to shift some of the school funding in order to offset the property tax burden on residents and provide some security in that regard.
I’m so proud to share on behalf of the Board of Education, Administration and business office that the 2023-2024 budget ensures a 0% tax levy increase for the fourth consecutive year — remaining well below New York State’s property tax cap of 2%. Always mindful of the long-term interest of our school community, our fiscal plan does NOT include a tax increase for residents.
Once a Red Raider, always a Red Raider. That spirit and pride is one of the reasons our District is at the heart of North Rockland. We have developed a balance here in which graduates and community members have great opportunities to work for us and alongside us in our mission.
In closing I would like to remind everyone that tomorrow, Saturday March 25, NR leadership will be hosting a Job Fair at North Rockland High School from 9am-3pm. I look forward to meeting you there!
NRCSD Budget Information
The Board of Education and Administration, District and Superintendent have a shared goal to provide our students with an exemplary educational experience, while controlling taxes for our community. We understand the fiscal challenges that living in Rockland County pose which is why they are collaboratively working to ensure the amount of money we ask from our tax payers does not increase for the fourth consecutive year. The latest 2023-24 school budget presentation can be found linked here.
Budget Highlights:
1. The BOE of Education has indicated the 2023-24 budget will NOT include an increase in our tax levy for the fourth consecutive year.
2. Expanded high-level programs and services customized for every learner.
3. Upgrades will be accomplished without asking the taxpayers for any additional funds. The District will utilize funds awarded through grants and secured through state aid.
Specifics on the projects will be forthcoming stay tuned!
Maybie's Mission
For the major impact she has made since starting with us this September Maybie is our March Employee of the Month!
Maybie (May for short) graduated from Canine Companions Skilled Companion/Facility Program in July 2022 before joining our team. Alongside her handler and partner in and out of the classroom Mike Morlino, Maybies mission has been to nurture, socialize and support students on their educational journey. She has not only touched the lives of learners but teachers, administrators and everyone she meets along the way. We are so thankful and grateful to have her working with us and to be a District incorporating companions like May into the motivation, recovery and SEL of our students. Thank you for bringing out the best in NR!

NR's State Championship Watch Party!
What a great night it was inside Fieldstone Middle School at the NRCSD Boys Basketball State Championship Watch Party!
Thanks goes out to everyone who helped make the night possible for our students, staff and school community members. Although the Red Raiders didn't take the state title, we could NOT be more proud of them, their heart, drive and the incredible season they played! You made it so far these last few historic weeks and in the process brought NR Together. More photos.

Red Raider of the Week
Lady Raider of the Week
Deborah Estabine is our #LADYRAIDEROFTHEWEEK! Last week, Deborah completed the winter track and field season by finishing third in the weight throw competition at the NYS Federation meet. The senior also qualified for the state championship meet in both the shot put and weight throw. She's had an incredible season and her focus and drive has been something to be admired by her team mates and coaches. Estabine was the Rockland Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year in 2022 and we know we will be seeing her make more headlines as she heads off to college. Let's make some #REDANDWHITE noise for Deborah!

Giselle! 🐶
Meet Giselle!
Hi! My name is Giselle. I am about 2-3 years old. I am well behaved, take treats gently, love kids and all people. I am great with dogs smaller than me who are submissive. I am lovable and will spoil my new family with hugs and kisses. My foster mom says I am crate trained and fully potty trained. Because I still need to work on my jumpiness when I get excited, a home with older kids is preferred. I would be a great companion and would love to find my forever family. If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.hitor.org and fill out an application.
Ginger 😻
Meet Ginger!
Ginger is a super sweet, 6 year old girl that loves all the attention she can get! Her long, luxurious hair and friendly personality would make her the best companion for almost any household. If you are interested in adopting Ginger, please go to www.hitor.org to fill out an adoption application.
