Cougar Families,
Congratulations to our students who made the All Region Choir and our National French Contest Award Recipients! We are continuously amazed by the talents of our students! We are looking forward to all the end of year concerts and performances by our students as well!
STAAR:
STAAR testing starts tomorrow, April 25. As we have communicated before, our day will look a little different for testing. We will not be taking any lunch drop offs of deliveries on STAAR days. Students will have an assigned testing room to report to in the morning and that will be posted in the cafeteria and front of the school. Students will test in that room for the day. Dress code for STAAR days is the same as a regular school day. Students can wear comfy clothes, but not pajamas, slippers or other clothing out of dress code. We also do not allow students to bring stuffed animals, pillows or blankets on testing days.
A new procedure this year is that students have the entire day to test so they will have as much time as needed. All students will need to bring their CHARGED CHROMEBOOK for testing days. Please help remind your kids of this important step.
We know our students are ready, but some supports from home will be helpful for them to be mentally prepared. An early bedtime the night before, a healthy breakfast the morning of and water with simple snacks for the day of testing are all great ways to help them be prepared. Snacks that aren’t sticky or messy are the best – pretzels, popcorn, chopped veggies, etc. You can also encourage them, tell them to do their best and take their time on each test. Let them know this one test doesn’t tell their whole story about who they are and how incredible they are! We have been telling them that here as well and helping them prepare mentally and academically. We are proud of what they have learned this year and know they will do great!
