JRB Family News

At the elementary level, we are excited to announce that some teachers have volunteered to pilot new ELA curriculum materials throughout this year. The District is committed to updating and enhancing our elementary literacy program based on our District’s needs and the latest research on literacy instruction. We are investigating the following programs:

- myView
- Into Reading

In addition, the upper grades (4 and 5) are investigating a program called Wit and Wisdom. If your child’s teacher participates in any of the programs, we may be seeking your feedback from a parent/guardian perspective to help guide our decision-making.

The 5th Grade Students of John R Briggs Elementary School could use your help. Students will

be selling raffle calendars during the month of November, with a drawing taking place each

weekday in December. We would greatly appreciate any donation you can make for a daily

prize. Should you make a donation for the calendar, we will list your business and raffle item on

the calendar.

We are sure that this fundraiser will be a success with support from businesses like yours. Led

by volunteers, we have very few expenses, with all of the profits benefiting students attending

Nature’s Classroom Outdoor Program in the spring. Located in Freedom, NH, Camp Cody

(Nature’s Classroom) is a residential outdoor education program that focuses on social and

emotional learning, science and engineering skills, and adventure education. Proceeds will

offset the cost for each student and provide scholarships for those unable to pay the full cost.

If you are able to donate, a volunteer can pick up the item or you can send the donation and the

estimated retail value to the following address no later than November 12, 2021:

Reminder to all parents of 3rd Graders: Your child’s physical is due. If your child has had a physical in 2021 please have a copy forwarded to the health office if you have not already done so. If your child is in need of a physical, please make an appointment with their Primary Care Provider soon. If you need a form, please call the school nurse and one will be sent home. Physicals can always be faxed to the health office at 978-827-5699. Thanks for your prompt attention!

-Come for a fun night of Painting at the Wachusett Brewery on Wednesday 11/17 from 6-8 instructed by Kate Heinze!
-Next PTA meeting is Wednesday, November 10th at 6:30 in the library hope to see you there!
-Family Movie Night 11/5/21, tickets are available at the door!
-Pie and Cookie dough pick-up is Thursday 11/18 from 4-5:30 at the main entrance of Briggs!

Get excited for Movie Night this coming Friday, where we are showing Onward!

Here are a few updates and reminders:

- We WILL be selling tickets at the door on Friday. Tickets are $3 per person, up to $10 per family.

- Please remember to sit with your family or pod and leave space in between each group.

- Masks will be required during this event while indoors.

- Concessions will be available but will need to be consumed outdoors. See attached list of offerings.
