Message from Mrs. Morgan:
We are excited about the cooler weather and all the fun events in October! October 5th is the last day of Quarter 1! Don't forget, Fall Break is October 6-13, so there will be no school.
Also in the month of October we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week and having our annual Book Character Parade.
** If you have not already, parents and guardians must click on the link below to do the annual update in the Infinite Campus Portal, but only if you have it setup already. If you do not have a portal, please contact the school to get the verification key.

This year’s theme is "Don't 'Fall' for Drugs!"
Monday, October 23rd: “Orange you Glad you don’t do Drugs?”
-Wear orange for “Unity”; Let others know you support them in their fight to stay drug-
free!
-Lieutenant Rodriguez will meet with 5th grade students to talk about the dangers of vaping.
Tuesday, October 24th: “Don’t Fall for Drugs”
-Sign the drug-free pledge “Fall style”
-All students will sign a leaf and add it to our Drug-free tree.
Wednesday, October 25th :”Be Sweet, not Salty!”
-Count the Candy Corn Guessing Game-any student who would like to participate can pay
$1.00 for 2 guesses. (All proceeds will go to a non-profit organization supporting
youth substance abuse programs.)
The student who guesses the correct number of candy corn in the jar (or gets the closest) will win.
-Students can dress in candy corn colors: yellow, white, & orange.
Thursday, October 26th: “Happy Thanksgiving”
-Celebrate this fun holiday by dressing-up like your favorite Thanksgiving dish (be creative)!
-Kick-off the Annual Empty Stocking Funds' Food Drive!
-Students will have the opportunity to write what they are thankful for and will be
read over the morning and afternoon announcements throughout the month of November.
Friday, October 27th: “Football Friday!”
-To promote a healthy lifestyle, students will be encouraged to wear their favorite football
team’s swag: Loganville, UGA, Falcons etc…All of our cheerleaders are welcome to wear their uniforms as well.
-Loganville Football players and cheerleaders will welcome students when they arrive at school.
Sharon Elementary School's United Way campaign is underway!
* Every Friday is Hat Day-$1.00
* Every Friday students can buy a CFA Biscuit and drink- $5.00

Hispanic Heritage Month
The winners are:
First Place: Mrs. Viar's Class- Pizza Party
Second Place: Mrs. Elliot's Class- Donut Party
Third Place: Mrs. Brack's Class- Treasure Trolley
Book Character Parade
Parents are welcome to attend the outdoor Book Character Parade at 1:30 PM (weather permitting). Students will parade on the side walk around the school. Parents may line up around the front and sides of the school facing the side walk. Check outs and a sign out sheet will be available in your child's classroom after the parade.
Costume Guidelines:
-No weapons with costume
-No scary makeup, blood, or idea of “gore.”
-Any students not complying with the guidelines will not be allowed to participate.
-Students should wear school clothes under their costumes.
-Please send your child to school with a copy of the book to carry in the parade.
Square 1 Art
Square 1 Art is excited to partner with your child's school to celebrate creativity and raise funds for the school! The Square 1 Art art project provides you the opportunity to purchase keepsakes and gifts featuring your child's art! Every order will profit your school.
Bullying Prevention Month
* Sharon Elementary School offers students a confidential way to report bullying. Students may complete a bullying report and submit to their teacher and then the teacher will submit to Ms. Liddell, the counselor. Or students can report straight to our counselor. Please encourage your child to report any act of bullying and it will be handled appropriately.

PreK students may dress up as their favorite Community Helper on Thursday, October 5th. (Example: police, firefighter, nurse, doctor, etc)
As Jaguars, we ROAR. We are Respectful, Organized, Accepting, and Responsible. At the beginning of the year, your students will be taught what this looks like in each area of the building. We have lots of fun plans for this school year to reward positive behaviors.
Pre-K- 2nd grade students: will participate in monthly rewards for positive behaviors (having at least 45 points and no major referrals)
The monthly rewards for k-2 will be the following.
- September- Kona Ice (October 5th)
- October- Extra Recess (October 31st)
- November- Movie and Popcorn (December 1st)
- December- Game Day (December 15th)
3rd-5th grade students: will participate in quarterly rewards for positive behaviors (having at least 165 points and no major referrals).
The quarterly rewards for 3-5 will be the following.
- Q1- Kona Ice, October 5th
- Q2- Game Day (Minute to Win-it, etc.) Grade Level Planned (December 15th)
The best way to earn points is to be at school each day and to be Respectful, Organized, Accepting, and Responsible! The character word for the month is Integrity.

Spirit Day - Flash Back Games
Join us at Flashback Games in Loganville for Spirit Day during Fall Break on Friday, October 13th from 12pm - 9pm. Just mention SES PTO and 10% of sales will be donated to SES Safety Patrol. See you there!
Feed the Candy Monster
Your Jaguar can feed our SES Candy Monsters nut-free candy through Friday, October 27th. All donated candy will be used for our Treats and Eats event on October 30th. Candy Monsters will be located in each grade's hall. The Candy Monster that has collected the most candy will win that grade a spooky sweet treat!
Treats and Eats
Treats and Eats is a FREE event at SES on Monday, October 30th from 5pm - 7pm. We need your help to make it a success!
1) You can register to host a trunk through October 29th.
2) You can donate nut-free candy by Feeding the Candy Monster in your Jaguar's hall through October 29th.
3) You can come to the event in costume on October 30th.
4) Grab dinner from one of our food trucks to help support SES.
We can't wait to see the creative trunks and fun costumes from our SES Families!
