When are pumpkins being collected?
- From now until October 25

Smart Futures: Career Readiness
Welcome back to Sparks!
Last spring, the students in grades 3-6 were introduced to Smart Futures. Smart Futures is an online career development platform which focuses on grade-specific activities for students and manages the outcomes of the activities in a portfolio which meets the required PA Career Readiness Standards. Last year, students in grades 3-6 completed a limited number of activities but this year we will be asking all elementary students to complete the activities for their grade. Any student who chooses, can do the activities in the previous grade band to have a complete portfolio for career readiness. This is an opportunity for you to see Smart Futures at home with your daughter/son.
Smart Futures allows students to discover what they like to do, learn about careers they might want to investigate and even how to develop a budget. To learn more about Smart Futures watch this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAovnVPPEXc
Attendance
Information regarding how to use the Parent Portal to report an absence can be found here.
All attendance questions can be directed to Christine Stevens, cstevens@cbsd.org, in the Gayman Office.
Access to Technology
Currently, the Technology and Innovation Department blocks Microsoft Office 365 logins to Outlook, OneDrive, ClassLink, and Canvas from foreign countries. This aids in protecting our CBSD user accounts and organization from malicious computer attacks from outside of the United States.
Students who travel cannot assume their devices will work once they leave the United States. Furthermore, Board Policy 204 requires students exceeding fifteen (15) consecutive days absence, per school year, for family travel will be withdrawn from school. Students can be re-entered upon return. For student out-of-country access requests, please follow this procedure going forward:
Vacation approval must be received from the building administrator to allow access for virtual learning while outside of the United States. Access to technology for short vacations is not approved at this time.
Thank you, Weis!

CBSD Farmers Market
Any Central Bucks family who may need a little extra food assistance is welcome to join us on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month at Barclay Elementary School. Our drive-up food distributions run from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. By our estimates, 1,500 CB children may experience temporary or chronic food insecurity—a statistic which should not exist in a community with our resources.
If you have any questions about the market, please email jbrereton@cbsd.org or mamcdonald@cbsd.org.
