Dear E.J. Hayes Parents:


It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the incoming principal of E.J. Hayes Elementary School. It is truly an honor to become a part of the E.J. Hayes family and community. I come to you with 15 years of experience as an educator. I spent 6 years teaching English and Theatre Arts at the High School level. Most recently I have served as an Assistant Principal at both the primary and high schools in the Martin County School District. I will have the distinct advantage of knowing many of your children already having worked with them at Williamston Primary over the past 2 years. I am also a father and have two young children aged 10 and 12.


This summer, I plan to spend the majority of my time working with Mrs. Rushing and Mrs. Grady to ensure a smooth transition for the upcoming school year. I will get to know our building, further study our community, and familiarize myself with the unique needs of this historical and magnificent place. I believe with all my heart that every student deserves a quality education and that only occurs when the school and the families work together for the childrens’ best interests. To that end, I will be calling on all of our faculty, staff, and parents to work as a team so we can best serve our children and by extension, our community.


I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to immersing myself completely in our school and in our community. I believe my main responsibility is to put our teachers in the best possible position to succeed, as they will in turn put our children in the best possible position to learn and grow. Estimados padres de E.J. Hayes:


Es con gran placer que le escribo esta carta como director entrante de la Escuela Primaria E.J. Hayes. Es un verdadero honor formar parte de la familia y la comunidad de E.J. Hayes. Vengo a ustedes con 15 años de experiencia como educador. Pasé 6 años enseñando inglés y artes teatrales a nivel de la escuela secundaria. Más recientemente he servido como Subdirector en las escuelas primarias y secundarias en el Distrito Escolar del Condado de Martin. Tendré la clara ventaja de haber conocido a muchos de sus hijos ya que trabajé con ellos en la primaria de Williamston en los últimos 2 años


Este verano, planeo dedicar la mayor parte de mi tiempo a trabajar con la Sra. Rushing y la Sra. Grady para asegurar una transición sin problemas para el próximo año escolar. Conoceré nuestro edificio, estudiaré más a fondo nuestra comunidad y me familiarizaré con las necesidades únicas de este lugar histórico y magnífico. Creo con todo mi corazón que todo estudiante merece una educación de calidad y eso solo ocurre cuando la escuela y las familias trabajan juntas por el mejor interés de los niños. Para ello, llamaré a todos nuestros profesores, personal y padres a trabajar en equipo para poder servir mejor a nuestros hijos y, por extensión, a nuestra comunidad.


Estoy verdaderamente honrado de que se me dé esta oportunidad y espero sumergirme completamente en nuestra escuela y en nuestra comunidad. Creo que mi principal responsabilidad es poner a nuestros profesores en la mejor posición posible para tener éxito, ya que a su vez pondrán a nuestros niños en la mejor posición posible para aprender y crecer.
