Principal’s Update
Dear Families,
Thank you for a great start of the year! We are working hard to get to know your students. Our theme this year is Where the Adventure Begins! We are focusing on a strong curriculum, activities, and projects to strengthen reading for all our students. We are also focusing on being a strong community. We will be highlighting character traits that help our students feel welcome at school. By knowing your students we can best meet their needs.
I am so excited to see all the learning your student will do this year. I want your student to have the best experiences so they are strong scholars everyday! We want everyday to be a positive Adventure.

School Hours
Breakfast for our students starts at 7:25 . Please have your student at school in their class by 7:55 am. Any student who arrives after 8:00 needs to check in the office for a tardy slip.
Kids Home Sick
We love having your students here at school. However we also want to ensure they are ready to learn. If your student is sick, please keep them home and notify the office at 541-842-3860
School Arrival / Dismissal
When dropping off students please make sure your student is using the sidewalks, and one of our two crosswalks. We are seeing quite a few students dropped off in the middle of the street and/or sent across the street instead of to a sidewalk and crosswalk. This can lead to close calls - and we have seen a few! Our number one goal is student safety.
Volunteers/Visitors
All of our volunteers and visitors must check in using our scanning system in the office to ensure the saftey of our students.
MESSAGES/EARLY PICK UPS
We know that plans change and students have different arrangements. If you need to get a message to your student, please provide the information before 2pm. It is very dificult to try to send out messages after 2pm due to end-of-class transtions.
Attendance
Hello Washington Families,
This is Mr. Escobedo, Assistant Principal at Washington. I am excited for the new school year and I look forward to working with you to
help your child be successful this year. Many of you have met me already and know that I am always available to meet or talk. If we haven’t met, I encourage you to reach out to me for any concerns. I love working at Washington and I enjoy spending time with your students
and watching them grow academically and socially.
Mr. Escobedo, Assistant Principal
Talented and Gifted Student Information
Medford District 549c schools are always in the process of identifying students who are academically talented and/or intellectually gifted. Previously identified TAG students remain identified and their services will continue as needed. Students may be nominated for the Talented and Gifted Program (TAG) by the following: national or state test scores, district achievement tests (i-Ready), a teacher, parents, community members, or by self-nomination. After nominations are complete, information will be gathered and a screening committee will screen each student. Students and parents/guardians will be contacted if additional testing is needed. If you wish to obtain information on this program or you have any questions, please contact Steven Escobedo from Washington Elementary at 541-842-3860 or Hunter Emery, the district Talented and Gifted Specialist at 541-842-1043.
