Hard To Believe - Week One Is A Wrap!

We have been so excited for the school year to start, and it has proved to be all we hoped for and more! Along with welcoming our precious kindergarten students, we have been able to welcome many more new students in elementary right through high school!


This is just a short newsletter with some general info that will help you navigate the beginning of the school year. Please read below.

The following are a few of the ways the school will communicate with you.

NOTE: Teachers will have additional ways they will communicate with you, as well.

We are a Paperless Report Card School. PowerSchool is how you will be kept up to date with your child's progress.

Email Communication is a standard form of communication. Please make sure your email address is kept up to date with the school.

If you are not receiving email from the school please contact Sherry in the office - sjenkins@brsd.ab.ca 780-372-3800

We try to minimize the number of phone calls that go home.

  • If you notice a call from the school PLEASE CHECK YOUR VOICE MESSAGES BEFORE CALLING THE SCHOOL
  • If you receive a call between 9:20 and 9:30 in the morning, it is likely an Unexcused Absence call from the office. Please ensure you report your child's absences

HOW TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD - REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY

Whether your child is new to the school, or has attended Bashaw School for 12 years, EVERY student MUST verify their child's enrolment EVERY YEAR. This is mandated by the Government of Alberta.


If you have already completed your forms, thank you! You don't need to do anything further.


How do I verify my child's enrolment?

BRSD sent an email in August as a reminder to verify your child's enrolment through SchoolEngage. To access SchoolEngage, please do ONE of the following:


  • Access SchoolEngage through your PowerSchool account
  • There is a link on your home page
  • The Verification Form cannot be accessed from a phone - must be done on a laptop or desktop
  • Complete the verification form for each child - make sure to hit Submit
  • REMEMBER TO HIT SAVE after EACH PAGE (trust me on this one)

  • Access SchoolEngage by clicking the picture or clicking HERE

REPORT CARDS - VERY IMPORTANT (they're paperless)

Just a reminder that we will not be printing a report card for your child(ren). To access their marks, teacher comments, attendance, etc you will need to log in to PowerSchool.


Please ensure you have access to PowerSchool asap. If you do not have access PLEASE EMAIL THE SCHOOL for your information (please do not call). Email Sherry at sjenkins@brsd.ab.ca and please send the following information:

  • First and Last Name of your child(ren)
  • YOUR first and Last Name

How to access your PowerSchool account will be emailed to you.

Ensure your access to school fees is set up

BRSD requests all school fees are paid within 30 days of being posted. We will begin to assign fees to students accounts next week.


  • Please ensure you have access to your children's fee accounts - to check or set them up please click the picture or click HERE Instructions on how to set up your information is on this page.

Just a quick overview of how to report your child's attendance changes

To report your child's absence please do the following:

  • Email the office - sjenkins@brsd.ab.ca, or
  • Call the school at 780-372-3800 and leave a message
  • ALSO please email your child's teacher(s), so they are aware and can plan for any homework/assignments, etc


Phone calls from our system go home to every child that has an unexcused absence. The automated calls normally go out beginning at 9:20 am.

SCHOOL CALENDAR

Save this link and even download the calendar to yours! The calendar page will let you know early dismissal's, events, etc. Click HERE


Early dismissals will be the FIRST Thursday of most months. Students will be dismissed at 12:05. THIS IS A CHANGE FROM LAST YEAR.
