The goal of 7th and 8th grade FLEX is to introduce learners to the study of world languages. In 7th grade, learners will encounter fascinating facts about world languages and discover the benefits of knowing another language. They will have a brief introduction to German and Spanish. At the end of the marking period, they will choose a country to research and learn about the country's language, geography, and culture. Seventh graders share what they learned with their classmates in a small group setting.
In 8th grade, learners will expand their knowledge of German and Spanish while exploring topics such as hobbies, food, and the weather. Students will learn vocabulary, grammar, and phrases in the foreign language and will discover various cultural events and artifacts. Learners will be able to continue studying German and Spanish when they enter high school.
