Principal's Pen
Hello MES Sea Lion Families,
Teaching and learning are in high gear as we have well developed and known procedures across our school. Routines help students to focus on the difficult skills they practice daily. Parents can help their child to maximize their growth and enjoy learning by also keeping crisp routines and expecations. When we commit to providing children structure, they thrive more. To this end, please help your child with keeping their school items organized and by maintaining schedules for all their activities from bedtime, to reading time, to time to connect with you about life. Stay in close contact with teachers about goals and longterm projects. Volunteer when you can; you won't regret it. Together as parents and school staff we can and are helping our students achieve ever-more.
Thank you for your partnership,
Proud Principal Chris Hertz

WAIT UNTIL 8TH
The Wait Until 8th pledge empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least 8th grade. By banding together, this will decrease the pressure felt by kids and parents alike over the kids having a smartphone. Please note that this pledge is for smartphones only! If you would like your child to have a basic phone that just calls and texts, you still can sign the pledge! The basic phone avoids many of the distractions and dangers of the smartphone.
Top 5 Reasons To Delay Getting a Smartphone
1 Smartphones are changing childhood.
2 They are distracting and addicting.
3 Smartphones expose your child to...
4 They increase risk for anxiety and depression.
5 Cyberbullying is an important concern.
