Welcome back to school! I hope you had a wonderful break spending time with family and friends. Thanksgiving week is a fantastic opportunity to stop and think about all we are grateful for in our lives.

We have a short fourteen days together between now and Winter Break. There is so much to look forward to at Eagle Canyon. Be sure to stay informed by reading this update and checking out the Weekly Bulletin.

SIXTH GRADE PARENTS

We are so excited to continue the camp tradition at Eagle Canyon. As a reminder, students must be at school at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday. A best practice is to have their belongings labeled so they can find their items quickly when we arrive to camp.

Please remember that they are not allowed to bring any electronic devices (phones, smart watches, ear buds, etc.) If they bring them, we will confiscate them. Additionally, they are not allowed to bring any food items. These will be confiscated as well.

Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults. As such, CVUSD has a new attendance challenge for the 2023-24 school year. They are challenging schools to attain a 96.5% attendance rate. The school with the highest attendance rate in each feeder group at the end of the trimester will be awarded with a huge trophy and at the end of the year will earn a school-wide pizza party. Let's work together to earn the trophy and pizza!

School starts every day at 7:50 a.m. To ensure our students make it to class on time, we offer breakfast and supervision beginning at 7:20 a.m. Between 7:15 and 7:35, traffic is very light.

We only met the attendance goal one time in the last two weeks. Please make illness the only reason for an absence. Based on the most recent attendance report, we continue to be in third place for attendance in the Ayala Feeder.

Students will be entered into a drawing for one of five Yogurtland gift certificates each week for the following:

• Attend school every day
• Arrive to their classrooms by 7:50 a.m.
• Stay at school all-day

We are committed to improving Eagle Canyon's attendance. We appreciate your support!

At Eagle Canyon, our students benefit from Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support. Mr. Armstrong, Eagle Canyon's Counselor, works with small groups of students to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 counseling with a curriculum focused on supporting our students' social-emotional health. You can request support if you have concerns regarding your child's social-emotional health. Click on the picture to access the online Parent Request for Assistance form.

The Health Office is accepting shorts and pants donations for our students who need a change of clothes while at school. We need boys and girls clothing, 4T - 12 yrs. Elastic waistbands are preferred.

As a reminder, the student's smart devices must be off while the students are on campus. Smart devices include smartwatches. Please remind your children if they have a phone or smartwatch to turn it off to avoid smart devices from being confiscated. I appreciate your help!

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If you are interested, please stop by the office, fill out the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan. We need to have two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.
