Kasper's Notes
We have yet to get through a full week of school - hoping to do so this week!! Even with a break in the regular school week, students managed to come smiling and back ready to learn! One of my Morning Messages this week mentioned having students read for at least 20 minutes (or have someone read to them) whenever we have an unexpected day off. Write about what you read, how you felt about it, what it reminded you of in your life, or anything about the book and turn in the next time we are back at school. I will collect these and give a Shout out on Social Media and raffle names for a small prize!
In addition to a (finders-crossed) full week of learning, we have our Curriculum Nights this week. (Dates, Grades, and Times below)
Mayo will be bringing back the "Choose to be Kind" program! We will hold whole school celebrations, recognizing students that exemplify the nine components of the program (Respect, Teamwork, Acceptance, Kindness, Honesty, Friendship, Responsibility, Courage and Patience) More details to come!
A few more things I have learned while at Mayo this week include that I cannot hula-hoop as well as a second grader, nor ballet dance as well as a third grader. Recess is killing me!
As your child's birthday approaches, please feel free to email me a front head shot of your pet. Please put Birthday Pet Pic in the subject line and include your child's full name in the email. I will try to include family pets in our birthday messages. Please don't send them too far ahead!
Kindly,
Carolan Kasper
Principal

SMART DEVICES
Please remind your child that cell phones must remain off and in their backpacks, and if they are using a device of any kind during school, they will need to call home and explain why. I will be speaking to students to remind them of this as well.
Thank you for your support.
Food Service Info
We have had a few families ask about breakfast. Here is some information.
BREAKFAST SERVICE
All students are eligible for one free breakfast every school day that will be served before the school day begins.
Some parents may not be aware that after having breakfast at home, some students are going to get school breakfast after arriving at school. We have had some students with stomach-aches mid-morning after eating 2 breakfasts. While there is fruit offered, there are also offerings such as sticky buns (which you have not been aware of). While all students may certainly have a free breakfast, I wanted to make you aware of the fact that 1) they may be losing instructional time getting and eating breakfast, and 2) it may their 2nd breakfast if they have had breakfast at home.
Feel free to let your child's teacher know if you do or do not want your child getting breakfast at school.
