WMS Friday Forecast
September 1, 2023
Note From Our Admin Team
Dear Parents:
We are experiencing an increase in Chromebook damage. We see two types of damage. Accidental damage may happen when a student spills something in their backpack or drops their bag. Intentional damage may happen when a student slams their device, picks off keys, or separates the base from the keyboard, etc.
When our IT department assesses each device for repair, they determine the type of damage. If there is intentional damage, a fee will be assessed for repair ($50) or replacement ($250). The office will notify parents of the fee and it will be placed on the student’s PushCoin account.
Chromebook Reminders:
Students need to be sure to take care of their Chromebook
Transport with care
Keep their hands off others’ Chromebooks
Use it primarily for school purposes to reduce the potential for damage
WMS ATTENDANCE TOPIC OF THE WEEK
Unverified Calls & Emails
Schools are required to follow legal guidelines for student attendance.
You may occasionally get a call/email for an unverified class period. PLEASE DON’T PANIC!
Some common reasons for an unverified absence include:
-Not in their PE squad when the teacher took attendance
-Arrived late to class with a pass
-Staff marked the entire class absent instead of present
-Staff marked the wrong student
-Substitute unfamiliar with class
We verify attendance for all absences on a period-by-period basis but this does take some time. Unverified absences are generally cleared by the end of the day and HAC will be updated!

Cancellations will be communicated in the WMS daily announcements and on our Schoology page. SHH will be starting on Tuesday, September 12th!
Resources for Families
In D303, we value the opportunity to provide a community of care and support to our families, especially those faced with financial hardship. If your family is experiencing a significant financial need, our community partnerships have several supports available for families, including school clothes/shoes, winter coats/accessories, school supplies, toiletries, holiday meals, and holiday gifts. If you would like to be considered for any of these supports, please complete the Family Resource Form by September 1, 2023.
Can You Help Us Out?
Creativity Needed!
Mr.Loversky is looking for a parent (or two) who have some creativity to help us get some photos into our wall frames, along with adding some spirit banners. If you work for a printing company or you have a good eye for this sort of thing, then we need your help. Contact Principal Loversky at tim.loversky@d303.org.
Do You Have a Tree Contact?
We have a large piece of property with very few trees on it, and we would like to add a few additional trees. Some of our classes or teams would like to work on this arbor project. If you are someone who can help us out, please contact Principal Loversky at tim.loversky@d303.org.
