A Note From Mr. McCallum
Dear CES Families,
We are officially into the Fall season and nearing the Holiday season that many of us celebrate. Here at CES, we have so many things to be thankful for, but it all starts with our great students and community. If you've had a chance to look at some of our recent Facebook posts, you may have noticed a tremendous number of positive things taking place. We have had a very successful Monster March fundraiser where we raised over $31,000 for our students. We had an incredible Trunk or Treat event, popcorn Fridays, we're running out of wall space on our Wall of Fame because so many kids are getting Positive Office Referrals (Purple tickets). There's been kids earning all sorts of good stuff from the Mustang Market cart like Pizza Parties and Ice Cream Parties with the Principals. We've also had Clio Area Education Foundation, Sovita Credit Union, Conlee Oil Company, and others who prefer to be anonymous donate either grants or funds in various ways to support the teaching and programs we have for our children. Enjoy the rest of the newsletter and thank you again for helping make this #theplacetobe!

CES Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat was a HUGE success! Thank you so much to all the volunteers who had a trunk and those that worked the event! It was easily the "favorite part" of the day for most students!
Over the next several newsletters we will be introducing the amazing Clio Elementary Dream team, a team of dedicated educators who are passionate about YOUR children and doing whatever it takes to inspire, empower and guide them to lifelong achievement. You will not have to look hard to understand that until a child's basic needs are met, they are not able to absorb the knowledge that a regular academic school day can entail. We also understand one of a child's most basic of needs is their social and emotional abilities. Our team of extremely dedicated behavioral professionals work daily to ensure that your children are supported in these basic social and emotional needs.
Meet Our Clio Elementary Social and Emotional Learning Team

I am currently working on my bachelor's degree to pursue a career in teaching! You may have spoted Ms. Lamb taking your number in the pick up line or dressing up as a fun traffic cone!
Jenna Ruiz, Parent Liasion
Ms. Ruiz works to help support our Positive Behavior Incentive System (P.B.I.S.). Here is what she has to say, "My name is Jenna Ruiz and I am an At-Risk Liaison here at Clio Elementary School. I started at Clio Schools in May of 2022 but I have over 10 years experience in Out of School time. I'm so excited to work with you and your students to meet your needs this year!"
SEL Paraprofessionals
One of the support systems we have in place to encourage a positive learning environment at Clio Elementary school is scheduled and unscheduled breaks. Using data we determined students who are in need of taking a scheduled break at certain times of the day from the classroom setting. There are also time where a student may just need a break to gather their emotions, or rest after a challenging academic lesson. Our SEL paraprofessionals work together to give these students breaks and are available to monitor an support any other social and emotional challenges that may arise throughout a school day.
Kristy Blandford, Paraprofessional
Mrs. Blandford is one of two of our paraprofessionals that support students throughout the day.
Stephanie Perez, Paraprofessional
Mrs. Perez is one of two paraprofessionals that works daily to provide students with breaks and help them throughout the day.
Clio Elementary P.R.I.D.E. Council
Pride Council is made up of 3rd graders that were voted in by their peers. They participate in community service activities like the Veteran's Day Parade and ceremony that was held on Friday 11/10, and our upcoming Dine in night at DQ.
Mustang P.R.I.D.E. Awards
There are many ways we honor students who are showing Mustang P.R.I.D.E. Check out some of those ways below!
The Purple Ticket Hall of Fame
Students can earn a Positive office referral when they are showing exceptional PRIDE behavior. They can be referred for any or all of the 5 traits of Mustang PRIDE-being positive, respectful, independent, dependable or engaged! Each week these students are honored by getting their name called at their lunch and being a part of the Mustang P.R.I.D.E. parade that gets to go out to recess first! They also get a spot on the Positive Ticket Hall of Fame!

Pizza & Ice Cream With The Principals
Another way to recognize students who are showing Mustang P.R.I.D.E. is by giving them Mustang Money. Every Friday the Mustang Market cart is rolled into each classroom and students can purchase items off the cart or moments/experiences with people around the school. For 80 Mustang dollars students can choose either Pizza with Mr. McCallum or Ice Cream with Mrs. Jones. Below are a few pictures from those experiences.
Empathy & Kindess Activities
The month of November students have been learning about empathy and discovering more about each other with the "Walk in My Shoes" activity. They have also been intentional about showing kindness and identifying when others are being kind by writing it down on our school wide paper chain. We hope to connect them together by the end of the month! Kindness is a "Chain" reaction! Talk to your students each day about how they have shown or recieved kindness!
