NCC Fall Festival
At NCC, we will celebrate the Fall Festival on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023. Students may bring school-appropriate Halloween costumes for the afternoon parties. Costumes should not include weapons, paint, swords, offensive language, large masks, etc. Our Spirit Week theme that day is Fall colors which is another option for students to wear and enjoy!
Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help out. There will be a parade at 2:30, then the class parties will take place. Full costumes should NOT be worn the whole day. Students may change into a costume starting around 2:15 with minimal help from an adult. If your child is not planning to attend the class parties, please let their homeroom teacher know. Those students will be welcomed into the Media Center!
Digital Citizenship Curriculum
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has partnered with Common Sense Education to deliver a digital citizenship curriculum to students. As elementary schools continue with implementation, media specialists continue to serve as the key contacts at each school. • MCPS and Common Sense Education are committed to working together to provide schools and educators within the district the necessary tools, training, and support to (1) Empower students to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly with technology as part of the district’s Digital Citizenship Program, and (2) effectively integrate technology into the classroom to improve student outcomes.
• Common Sense Education will provide high-quality digital citizenship materials for schools to use with students and families as part of the district's Digital Citizenship Program. A whole-community approach to digital citizenship is an implementation model that involves student instruction, family engagement, and educator professional learning and support.
• Implementing the digital citizenship curriculum will be a shared responsibility of media specialists, school counselors, and teachers in digital literacy, English, health, and social studies. Media specialists will serve as the key contacts at each elementary school and receive professional learning during the school year to support the coordination of implementing the digital citizenship curriculum.
• Digital citizenship content will be embedded within an existing curriculum, giving each Grades K–5 student a minimum of 3 lessons over the school year.
