Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is back! Last school year, we formed the group, and our spirited parents have provided a nice layer of support for students and teachers. PTSO will sponsor a Sonic Fundraiser this Thursday the 17th. Please come for a meal, and support those students and teachers. Also, a fundraiser is in the works for late October and details will come soon. The PTSO is also facilitating a teacher wishlist and will be sharing information on the PTSO FaceBook page. The group is also planning other events and fundraisers for the school year, and despite some limitations with the pandemic, they plan to make an impact for our students and teachers.

Our advisory program is designed to help students develop as whole individuals, not just academically. We aim to help our students gain skills like empathy, courage, gratitude, and trustworthiness. The counselors at HMS have designed the advisory curriculum in order to be able to facilitate this learning taking place.

Both in-person and virtual students should be completing their digital citizenship in Advisory. This enforces the value of being responsible online since we spend time in almost every class being online. The goal is to also encourage students to be positive digital citizens online outside of school.

Next, we will move on to the Victim Proof unit. This unit is based around a book by Tom Thelen, who is an anti-bullying speaker who encourages students to "be the change" in their school. Lessons include videos, discussions, and activities that help students look introspectively at their own personal character traits.

So far in Advisory, students have also completed the handbook review in regard to safety protocols because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
