Happy December!

It seems like only a couple of weeks ago when I was welcoming you to a brand-new year. Now we are almost done with the first semester! December will be a very busy month for our Stingrays and their families.

Academically our month is very busy closing the second quarter as well as each academic subject participating in mid-year assessments. Please encourage your child to do their VERY best on each assessment as their results will set the path for success for the rest of the year. Please see the testing schedule below as well as on our marquee, FaceBook, and Twitter platforms.

We kicked off our basketball season supported by our very talented players and cheerleaders. Their games are very intense and exciting. They love when you come out to support them during the games.

Our Band, Orchestra and Chorus are also setting the holiday spirit with several concerts over the next 2 weeks. Please take a minute to check the calendar for which concerts you would enjoy seeing. No matter what you pick, you won't be disappointed!

We close out the month/semester with a few modified dismissal days prior to our winter break. With only 14 days of school in December, it is imperative that your child completes all requirements in each class to insure his/her success.

As a reminder, there has also been several changes to the Student Code of Conduct this year. Please take a minute to read through it and become familiar with its contents. The section on cell phones/ Wireless devices and Vaping is new and has been shared with the students. Please remember that dress code is part of our expectations and is a reflection on our student's high success. Shorts must be fingertip length and a collared shirt must be worn each day unless otherwise noted. Jeans/Demin is only on Friday with a school spirit shirt and cannot have rips/frays/tears unless it is on a "Causal for a Cause" event. (Pay event).

F.A.S.T. ELA PM2 - December 5th at 8am

F.A.S.T. MATH PM2 - December 12th at 8am

Please be sure to have laptops fully charged as well as bring the charger as a backup. Students need to report to their testing locations. Passes will be distributed MONDAY.

We want to thank the Vero Bible Fellowship congregation for their generosity. Because of their contributions, Storm Grove families in need receive food, clothes, and school supplies. VBF also sponsored some of our students for Christmas this year. Thank you Vero Bible Fellowship!

The first semester is coming to an end. Please make sure you are passing all of your classes. Students must pass all core classes each year to be promoted to high school. Speak with your teachers if you have any questions, are missing work, or need extra help.

Any student who has failed a core class will be required to complete Course Recovery through our Edgenuity program. Edgenuity can be accessed through ClassLink anywhere you have an internet connection. Students are required to take and pass all three years of Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies for promotion to high school. Guidance tracks Edgenuity progress daily. Please see your counselor if you have any questions.

We received an update on our Symbolic Monarch Migration!

The paper monarch butterflies that we created and shipped off in October have arrived at the Frida Kahlo Kindergarten in the San Luis community near El Rosario Sanctuary in Mexico! Here is a picture of the students holding their butterflies, which journeyed south from schools across the US and Canada!

We look forward to receiving new paper butterflies when they complete their journey in the Spring!
