It was amazing! All you have to do is Venmo Ms. Tuttle to make this happen for our teachers!) If all the monetary spots are taken but you can't deliver food, just let me know. Student Council FAQ
Who is eligible to run?
ANY student who has a 3.0 GPA, is NOT currently failing ANY classes, and demonstrates good leadership qualities, high moral and ethical values that are representative of good citizenship, and responsibility and respect to AAA staff and rules.
IMPORTANT:
If you plan on changing schools for the next school year, please don’t apply to run.
If you are graduating at the end of the 1st semester of the next school year, please don’t apply to run.
What is expected of a member of Student Council?
A member of Student Council must be ACTIVELY involved in Student Council meetings, events, and activities. They will be expected to attend regular meetings, plan events independently and/or with a group, and represent the AAA student body.
How do I run for Student Council? What is the election process like?
The election is a 3-step process. First, you will fill out the preliminary application (look for it in your “Class of” Google Classroom) that the StuCo sponsors will look to see if you qualify to run at all. Second, upon being allowed to run, you will then create or at least outline what your campaign materials are going to be (poster, pamphlet, speech full text or outline, campaign video ideas) for sponsors approval. When they sign off on the adequacy of your campaign materials, you will start campaigning to the student body for your desired position. Final members will be elected by the student body by voting. Timeline of the process is as follows:
Preliminary application DUE: Friday, April 28, 2023
StuCo sponsors decision and communication on who can run: Tuesday, May 2, 2023
Submission of campaign materials for sponsors approval: due on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Campaign: Thursday, May 11, 2023 to Friday, May 19, 2023
School Votes: Monday, May 22, 2023, to Wednesday, May 24, 2023
Will I need any additional documents?
YES! All students who want to run will need to videotape themselves and their sponsor-approved speech for students to view before voting. This video will be posted to Google Classrooms on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
Then, those who are running for a senior position, i.e. current juniors, will need 2-3 Teacher Recommendations that will be submitted to the sponsors on paper. You can pick up blank paper copies with them, or print your own from the digital copy: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13vBQ3wcPlWTCn10ugZ1nzsDA4BToMPPOezTkL6_kxp8/edit
How many representatives will there be of each grade?
Four. There will be 4 students elected from grades 8th through 12th. Seniors will have 4 officer positions: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
