Term 3 Week 8 - Thursday 7 September, 2023
A Prayer for our Reconciliation Candidates
Loving God
Help us to teach our children that you love us totally and unconditionally.
Help us to encourage our children to grow in love and to learn how to say sorry, knowing that you always forgive.
Give us the courage to pray with our children and to share our faith with them as we journey together.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Quiz Night - Register Now
On Friday 20th October the P&F Quiz night is taking place in the hall beginning at 6.30pm. Events like these are fantastic for our community and really add to our sense of belonging.
Obviously, a great deal of work goes into organising an event like this and I would like to thank the P&F for the amazing job in coordinating this event so far. There are many donations and great prizes coming in. We even have a signed and framed Sam Kerr Australia jersey as one of the auction items. You certainly don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to bid on this!
Get your table together and register via the poster in the P&F section of the newsletter. Or via this link

Term 3 Making Jesus Real Awards
Pre-Primary
Serena received the 'Making Jesus Real' award for showing kindness and compassion to her peers. She is a fantastic role model for her class mates both inside and outside of the classroom. Serena is always ready to lend a helping hand to others who are hurt or need someone to play with. Serena's choices show Christian values and how we can make Jesus real in our everyday life. Well done, Serena!
Year 1
Henry is receiving the MJR Award today because he lives the W.E.S.T. way.
He is considerate and understanding of others, always encouraging his peers to do their best. Henry greets each day and every person he meets, with a big, happy smile, making those around him feel welcome and seen. He says sorry if needed and displays beautiful manners, remembering always to say thanks. Henry sees the difference Making Jesus Real makes, and the many people whose days are brightened because of it.
Year 2
Noelle
Noelle is a kind and considerate class member who is determined to do her best in everything she does. She always uses beautiful manners and listens carefully to what others have to say. Noelle works cooperatively with others and takes pride in all of her work. She is always one of the first to offer help and includes others in play. This is why Noelle is the Year Two MJR superstar this term!
Year 3
Ethan has received the MJR award for always going out of his way to include others, show respect and look out for those in need, just like Jesus did. I have seen Ethan ask children if they would like to join in during play time as well as use his manners when speaking to peers and teachers. I have also witnessed Ethan looking about for people who have hurt themselves and need a helping hand. These are all qualities that Jesus showed as well. You are a role model Ethan, keep being the great person that you are.
Year 4
For being a servant, just like Jesus. You demonstrate the virtue of service every day by the quiet way in which you help clean up the classroom without being asked. Your care for our classroom environment is very much appreciated. Well done, Chrystal!
Year 5
Shanvi always shows the Spirit of Jesus and consistently demonstrates this term's value focus of respect. Shanvi is a kind class mate inside and outside of the classroom and will always be the first to offer help to others. Shanvi always uses beautiful manners and works to the best of her ability in all learning areas. You are an MJR star Shanvi!
Year 6
Yuet Ee demonstrates the Spirit of Jesus by supporting her friends and offering assistance to those in need. Yuet Ee’s help is given quietly and without expectation of praise or reciprocation. Her beautiful manners make everyone feel valued. Yuet Ee uses her God-given gifts to the very best of her ability, always striving to improve herself. She is a most worthy MJR Award recipient.
Tournament of the Minds
Congratulations to our teams who participated in the Tournament of the Minds Challenge held at ECU last Saturday afternoon. Teams were entered in the Social Science Challenge and the STEM Challenge. The teams have spent the last 6 weeks designing a solution to a problem and practicing their teamwork in spontaneous challenges. The following students participated in the challenge:
Both teams produced very creative solutions to the scenario that was set and used amazing teamwork and dramatic skills to present their solutions to the judges. We are all very proud of both teams and the individuals who displayed resilience, creativity, grit and a great work ethic to produce a very polished performance.
Thank you to all the parents who assisted on the day. A particular thank you to Miss Jenzen (Year 5) who came along to support the teams.

SeeSaw
All parents would be aware of the SeeSaw app which is a communication tool used at Queen of Apostles between teachers and parents.
We would like to remind families that although parents can send messages to teachers at any time of the day, teachers are not able to respond immediately as they are in front of children teaching and not in a position to check their computers for messages. Please note that your SeeSaw message may not be seen until the end of the day.
If there are any issues or queries that require urgent action, please contact Reception.
Kindy 2025 - Places Filling Fast
The Kindy 2025 class is filling fast so we remind families to submit applications as soon as possible for children born between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021.
We conduct our interviews 2 years in advance and have already held interviews this year for families who had lodged applications earlier. The class is now over half full.
This year we have had a number of disappointed families who have missed out on a place in Kindy for 2024 because the class was already filled before they sent in their applications. If we don't have your application, we don't know you require a position in the class, so please don't wait till it's too late. All enrolment information is on our website or you can call in to the office to pick up an application form.
Pre-Kindy 2024
We have limited places available for Pre-Kindy 2024. Pre-Kindy runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.00am to 3.00pm and is available to children who have turned 3 years old.
