Welcome Back!
September 26th, 2023
Getting Back Into the Routine!
We are so glad to have our students back in the building. The first few weeks have flown by. A few reminders of our building procedures:
- Parent/guardian drop off is from 8:50-9:10 at the Kindergarten playground door each morning. Please stay in your car and pull through the line to drop students off with our staff. Do not drop students off in the parking lot, as the buses will also be pulling in at that time. School officially starts at 9:05 a.m.
- Parent/guardian pick up starts at 3:10, also at the Kindergarten door. Students should not be picked up prior to this time unless they have an appointment, as instruction continues until that time each day. Students need to be picked up before 3:30.
- Thank you for your patience with new bus routes and schedules. If you have any transportation-related questions, please call 775-9153.
- Cell phones are not allowed to be used by students during the school day.
- Please keep Pokemon cards at home. They create distractions and conflicts between students.

CUBS - Character Education
We will be wrapping up our work with "Respect & Responsibility" this week and recognizing students and classes that display these traits. We also started our "Peaceful Bus" program this week, which included meetings in bus route groups with our drivers and school staff to review expectations for the bus. Students can also earn "Bus Bucks" for showing positive behaviors on the bus.
The word of the month for October is COURAGE. Stay tuned for more resources and information on COURAGE as we learn about this word and how to display it both at home and at school.
Saturday, September 30: Open Farm Day at SVHS
10:00am-4:00pm
SV High School FACS, along with representation from Donnelly & Brookside, are participating in the Cornell Cooperative Extension's Fall 2023 Open Farm Day.
- SV will be one of 14 local farms and agricultural businesses hosting this Saturday. SV High School FACS will be offering a tour and demonstrations of our indoor and outdoor gardens, as well as samples of food to enjoy. We will also have hands-on activities for children.

A Request from the PTA
The PTA is looking for donations of used sporting equipment/balls such as footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, frisbees, jump ropes, etc. in good condition to enhance their support of our students at recess. No bats/rackets, please. Donations can be brought to the Fall Bash on Friday, or to the PTA Meeting on Monday and they will sort/disseminate the items. Thank you!
From the Health Office
Unfortunately we are already seeing some illnesses going around. Please remind your students to wash their hands and practice good hygiene. While we hope students come to school most days, students should stay home if they have a fever, vomiting/diarrhea, persistent/painful cough, severe sore throat, or if advised by your doctor. See the attached guidelines for COVID-19. Feel free to call the nurse's office if you are unsure or have questions.
