Northwood News September 12-16
Be Smart. Be Kind. Be United. Be a Unicorn.
Thank you for Choosing Northwood!
Dear Northwood Community,
On Friday we celebrated Grandparents by inviting them to come to Northwood and have lunch. We had a wonderful turn out with over 200 guests! It was amazing to be able to bring this event back. A huge thank you goes out to Susan Craig and her team for volunteering to organize and make our Grandparents' Day so special.
Don't forget that we have early dismissal this week on Wednesday and Thursday at 12:30 pm. Our teachers will be meeting with parents for conferences to discuss how their students are doing in school and what they will be learning this year. If you have not set up your conference yet, please contact your child's teacher right away.
Thursday, Sept. 15 is International Dot Day. It is a celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration. It was celebrated for the first time in a single classroom in 2009 and has grown into a global event. Today, people from across the world participate in a dot-filled day of making your mark! We will be reading the book "The Dot" by H. Reynolds, wearing polka dots and doing creative activities in celebration of Dot Day.
Finally, on Friday we will have individual picture day. Please see below for more information and don't forget to wear your smile! Everyone will have their picture taken.
Have a great week and thank you for your support!

Morning Routines and Drop Off
Our school day is from 7:30 am - 2:45 pm. Students may enter the building as early as 6:50 am to eat breakfast.
Please drop of your child next to the curb in the school parking lot. Student Safety Patrols will open your car door and assist your child. Please do not drop off your child on Pike Rd. or in the drive through lane.
If your child arrives before 7:23 am they will wait in the following location K-1: Cafeteria, 2-5: Gym. Please have your child put a book in their backpack, so they can read while they wait. At 7:23 am the teachers will pick up the students and go to class. The tardy bell rings at 7:30 am, so please allow plenty of time. In order to ensure the safety of all our students, we ask that parents not come into the building in the mornings. We will make sure that everyone gets to class safely.
School Lunch
We have a wonderful cafeteria that serves breakfast and lunch daily, if you choose to buy your lunch at school. School meals are not free this year. We are asking ALL families to please fill out a free or reduced lunch application (even if you don’t think you will qualify) at this link: https://www.schoolcafe.com/NorthEastISD
This is how we collect information about how many families qualify for other special services and how the school can receive additional funding.
You can also add money to your child’s cafeteria account at the above lin.
Click HERE for the September lunch menu.
Pick-Up Procedures
Everyone picking up a student from school at dismissal is required to present an official Northwood Dismissal Tag. Temporary tags were given out at Meet the Teacher night. The official green tag with your child’s name and grade will be sent home with your child today. If you need an extra one, please let your child’s teacher know. If you do not have a dismissal tag, you will be required to come to the front office and present an ID. If you do not have a temporary tag and you have time, please come early, or stop by the school office before dismissal.
All car pick and parent pick up must present their tag and wait for their child to be called at dismissal. We understand that this may take a little longer, however, we want to ensure that everyone goes homes safely. Thank you for your cooperation.
Visitors on Campus
All visitors to campus will be required to present an ID and receive a visitors badge through the Raptor system in order to come into the building during the school day. We understand that this may not be convenient, but it is necessary in order to ensure safety.
