Elmwood Elementary
Elmwood Elementary has seen a complete remodel of its building over the past two years. Every interior wall was removed on the first floor and a new floor plan was created that provides a better flow for students, staff and visitors. Two additional classrooms were added along with a exterior courtyard that allows for outdoor play and learning. Classrooms were expanded and updated with modern furniture and technology. The second floor was also completely remodeled this past summer with added breakout rooms for student groups, staff collaboration and faculty dining. This summer's construction at John Mills was a little lighter than last year and the construction crews were able to work throughout the summer without disruption. The remodeled areas will include four classrooms, three office spaces, staff work room and a staff collaboration space. We are looking forward to having the students and staff return next month to see the improved learning spaces.
The early start to the high school renovation project last spring provided the construction company with the time necessary to complete the project over the summer. The newly renovated media center provides a welcoming and functioning space for students and staff to work. In addition to the large common area, the renovated space includes four classrooms, two single use restrooms, five breakout rooms and five office spaces. On the first floor the old Large Group Instruction (LGI) room was converted into a classroom, district office space, two offices for the high school and a single use restroom. Finally, the athletic hallway was updated with new lighting, flooring and display cabinets to highlight the success of the EPHS Tigers over the year.
