Work-Based Learning with Mission BBQ
Career and Technical Cetner Butler Farm and Center for Apprenticeship's welding programs collaborated to provide work-based learning opportunities for students. Together they partnered with Mission BBQ to provide assistance with a smoker box on their delivery truck.
Elks Lodge Donation Appreciation
The Career and Technical Center (CTE) Butler Farm Campus were happy to accept the Hampton Elks Lodge #366 donation of 144 pairs of safety glasses for CTE programs such as Automotive I, Automotive II, Collision Repair, and Cosmetology as seen pictured.

Participation at the Newport News Police Department North Precinct Community Day
The weekend before school began, New Horizons Career and Technical Center was invited to participate in Newport News Police Department Community Day. Lots of fun, music, free food, and free school supplies brought out the local children and their parents. There was even an opportunity to meet a future firefighter!
A Chair Fit for a Tradesman!
While students began OSHA training, some Plumbing Year II students decided to put their spare time and spare wood to good use. They built Plumbing Inscutor, Michael Whalen, a sturdy and functional throne. Pictured are the handymen and their project.
Repairs and Restoration Lead to Remembrance
In an effort to beautify the campus, some Construction Year II students noticed that a gazebo was in need of serious repair. While they were working, they discovered a few bricks along the walkway that had names of importance engraved on them, revealing some of the history of New Horizons.

Apprentice Related Instruction is Back at CFAAT
The 2022-2023 school year for the Center for Apprenticeship and Adult Training has begun for both union and non-union apprentices. Welcoming a combined seventy-five (75) first-year electrical students alone, the New Horizons hallways were packed with new learners!
Welcoming New Community Students
Join the Center for Apprenticeship and Adult Training in welcoming the new Dental Assistant, Cosmetology, and Automotive Technology classes. A special thank you to Cosmetology instructor Tanya Rogers, Dental Assistant Instructor Cynthia White, and brand new Automotive Instructor Blake Thomas. New Horizons and the students are fortunate to have these skilled professionals as instructors!
Collaboration & Work-Based Learning Central
The Center for Apprenticeship and Adult Training (CFAAT) enjoyed collaborating with the Career and Education Center of fixing up Mission BBQ's mobile smoker. A special thank you to CFAAT instructor Joshawa Martel for using his time to come in and complete the project with the students.
