Inquiring Minds want to Know!
Hello Jag Nation,
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you were able to relax and spend time with family and friends. The winter holidays are quickly approaching and there is a ton going on at Jenkins. Please talk with your student and look at our calendar for upcoming events. For example we have choir/band/orchestra concerts, sporting events; the list goes on and on.
I also want to remind you of some great news. Jenkins has been identified by the state as a Performance School, this is the highest rating you can receive from the Colorado Department of Education. This rating is based solely on CMAS scores. While we know there are a number of opinions in our community about state testing, it is our public face and we appreciate your support. This year in March/April, we will be taking the state test again and we will ask for your support and your student's support in trying their best.
As always, if you have any questions please reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Tony Jackowski
Principal
Why is 7th Period, Jag Time Important?
Seventh period is a time of day where students review grades, identify missing work and set goals to get their grades up. This period is also time for students to practice and continue to grow in the areas of Math and English Languages Arts. In addition, students can get extra support from teachers and work to develop executive functioning skills and other skills, communication, collaboration, etc.
Harvest of Love
We are thrilled to share the heartwarming success of our recent Harvest of Love food drive, organized by Student Council in partnership with Care and Share to support Southern Colorado families facing food insecurity. The Jenkins community came together in an incredible display of generosity, making a significant impact on the lives of those in need.
The grade-level class competition added an exciting element to the food drive, and we were amazed to see the enthusiasm and dedication of our students. The competition came down to the last day, showcasing the determination and teamwork of our students as they rallied to make a difference.
We are proud to announce the winning Jag Time classes: 8th grade Mr. Roden, 7th grade Ms. Walker, and 6th grade Mrs. Kreyche. Congratulations to these classes for their outstanding efforts and commitment to helping others.
We are also proud to announce that our "Bring a Turkey to School" day made history at Jenkins Middle School, with an astounding 28 turkeys donated – the most in our school's history! This remarkable achievement truly reflects the compassion and empathy of our students and families.
In an epic event that brought joy and laughter to our school community, Mr. Wagoner and Ms. Roberts graciously volunteered to be duct-taped to the wall. This lighthearted and fun activity not only brought smiles to our students' faces but also served as a reminder of the power of unity and giving.
We are immensely proud of the Jenkins community for their unwavering support and generosity. Your contributions have made a meaningful difference in the lives of others, and we are grateful for your kindness and compassion.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an integral part of our Jenkins family.
