Theatre students were celebrated for winning their One Act Play and advancing to State.
Students also won second runner up state theatrical design.
Athletics
The baseball team was recognized for their incredible season and making it into the playoffs. Students were presented with their certificates for MVP, Academic All-State, and Honorable Mentions. (*Note: Softball and Track will be recognized in June)
Krystal Grimm
Ms. Grimm was recognized for her phenomenal work with the high school Key Club. Ms. Grim was named Staff Advisor of the Year at a Key Club convention. More than 350 school districts in Texas and Oklahoma compete. It's a terrific honor. Congratulations!
Joe Palmer
Superintendent Dr. Toni Hicks recognized Mr. Joe Palmer. He came out of retirement, and for most of the 2023 - 23 school year, Mr. Palmer served as the interim Human Resources Director. Thank you, Joe, for all your work recruiting the best and brightest staff to Jarrell ISD.
Daniella Ogundare
The school board officially welcomed new Jarrell Middle School Principal Daniella Ogundare. She starts next month. You can read more about Mrs. Ogundare by using this link.

- Sledge Engineering presented the monthly 2021 Bond Update

Action Items:
- The Board approved the unofficial results of 2023 Bond election, making the results official
- The Board approved spending up to $115,000 to upgrade district wide surveillance cameras with weapon detection software (The presentation outlining how the cameras work along with a demo is below)
- The Board approved an agreement with Huckabee for design/architect of elementary school number four
- The Board approved a resolution expressing intent to reimburse expenditures
- The Board approved another year contract with child nutrition vendor Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE)
- The Board approved a resolution to create the formation of a police department (The resolution and presentation, including a timeline and cost is below. We will have additional information in the coming days)
- The Board approved the locations of elementary school number four and middle school number two. Elementary school number four will be built on donated land in Berry Creek Highlands. Staff of the Year
Congratulations to our Teachers of the Year. Jackie Puska from Jarrell Elementary School was named Elementary Teacher of the Year. Nola Lafayette from Jarrell Middle School was named Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Farmers Market at JISD
The Farmers Market at JISD, is the first Saturday of every month. You'll receive fresh produce for free! It's open to anyone at no cost to you!
It is at 508 N 5th St from 9 to 11 am.
Adult ESL Classes
We are partnering with the Jarrell Community Library to offer adult ESL courses. Please share the news with your students and their families. More information is below.
