Quail Call

Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful winter break. A new year presents a time for reflection and as we reflect on the past year at PPCS, we have so much to be grateful for. We have managed to keep our students safe through the past year of the pandemic, while remaining true to our core EL principles. Through their expeditions, our students have had opportunities to learn from experts in their fields. They have had opportunities to engage in fieldwork off campus, gathering data and analyzing it. They have had opportunities to present their expedition products to authentic audiences in their community and beyond. And our fourth grade Crew is about to embark on our first ski adventure in two years. We have begun our playground, steadily raised funds to add new equipment, and will install a slide and swings before the year is out. We will continue to follow the protocols necessary to keep our students, families, and staff safe while remaining true to our mission of providing our students with a rich, rigorous and joyful education.

My name is Jodi Marie Fisher and I am very passionate about music.

It is a joy to bring music to our community in many ways, such as getting my vocal music education degree from U of I, teaching private piano, guitar, and voice lessons, performing concerts at most of the coffee shops around town, teaching a baby music class to the community, and now especially to bring music to your kiddos and as a result to your homes!

In addition to the accomplishments I mentioned above, I am also a singer songwriter and have my own business (Colorfully Playing the Piano) writing children's picture books and coloring book songbooks for teaching piano to children and children at heart.

Since Palouse Prairie already has a lovely classroom set of ukuleles on hand, I plan to use them as my main instrument in the classroom. We will be singing, dancing, playing ukuleles, drums, other instruments from my personal collection, and overall making a lot of beautiful noise! I encourage you to support your child’s musical learning in whatever way you can at home.

We will have music once a week for a half hour and I will be developing the curriculum myself for learning to play the ukulele as well as experiencing all that music has to offer. If you have any thoughts on music for the school or any questions about myself or what I hope for the music program, please do not hesitate to contact me. In observance of Martin Luther King Jr./Idaho Human Rights Day

The yearbook cover contest is open to all PPCS students. Students should use the following guidelines for their entries:

Submit Art on

• 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper with your name and grade on the back

• Vertical orientation

All Entries Must Include:

• Our school name Palouse Prairie Charter School

• A representation of one or more CREW traits

• The school year 2021-2022

Entries Due By: January 14, 2022

Tips for a Good Entry

• Use lots of color, including the background. Fill up all the white space.

• Mix up your medium, use crayons, watercolors, markers, pastels, etc.

• Leave 1 inch of space around the edges, (no text) just color. This will avoid print issues when the art is applied to the cover.

The winning artist will receive a $25 gift card to Panhandle Cone and Coffee!

The Lost and Found bins are overflowing with winter gear that students may need over the break so please stop by this week and look in our bins and ask about checking the multipurpose room. Items are being set out there for students to look through during lunch. You can park at the end of the pick-up/drop-off lane briefly to come in and look as long as it is not during dismissal. Items not claimed by January 7 will be donated to a local thrift store.

If your student will be late or absent, please be sure to call or email the office to let us know. If they will be late and will need a lunch we will need to know before 9AM so we can get it ordered.

In the event that Moscow School District closes due to weather-related conditions, PPCS will also close. School closures will be announced on our website and social media.
