Notes From the Office

Dear Families,

I am so impressed at the tremendous start we have had to the school year. One of my favorite things to do is to walk hallways and listen to the teachers teaching and the students learning. There is a lot of laughter, singing, praying and interacting all done in the name of a Catholic education. It is shaping up to be a great year. May God bless our students and teachers. Let’s keep each other close in prayer.

Thank you to all the parents that made it to Back to School Night. Your participation not only reinforces the importance of their education but also fosters a strong partnership between us – the school and the parents. This collaboration is crucial in creating a supportive learning environment that enables our students to thrive.

Thank you to all the parents that make weekly mass a priority for your family. Both Fr. Michael and Fr. Augustin have communicated how proud they are to see St. Paul students at mass on the weekends. As a reminder the mass at St. Paul is celebrated on Saturday at 5:00pm, Sunday at 8:00am, 10:00am 12:30pm (Español), 4:00pm and 6:00pm (Español).

We hope that our middle school students learn to be altar servers and contribute to the parish community with this ministry. Training is in early September!

Parents can also sign up to be lectors and Eucharistic Ministers or greeters.

It is important for school families to be present and to have a positive impact on our parish community.

Now that we are under way, this is just a reminder to everyone that school starts promptly at 7:50am. Any students that arrive after that time are to report to the office for a tardy slip. We are already seeing a lot of tardies and hope that families can adjust their schedules to make getting to school on time a priority. When a student arrives late it not only causes a disruption to that child's schedule but it is a distraction to the entire class that is already engaged in learning. If your child arrives after 8:00, we ask that a parent signs them in at the front office. Thank you!

Huge shoutout to our Parent Volunteer League, specifically Maggie Reilly and Christy Ramus for helping kick our school year off with a fun Back to School Bash! We appreciate everything they are doing to help St. Paul. Be on the lookout for information about dine out nights and meetings in the near future.

This is Mrs. Reilly and Mrs. Ramus' last year to chair PVL and we are looking for another volunteer to take over. It doesnt' have to be just one person, you can grab a friend and chair by committee. Mrs. Reilly and Mrs. Ramus are happy to have the new chair(s) shadow this year to help make for a smooth transition into the 24-25 school year. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Mrs. Yankovich.

We are looking for more catechists for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. CGS is a Catholic faith formation program where children can grow in their relationship with God through a deep engagement in Scripture and liturgy in a hands-on environment. Grades Prek-6th grade attend CGS at St. Paul once a week.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an incredible gift we give to our students. Thank you for prayerfully considering this important ministry.

We are happy to welcome parents/grandparents back to attend all school mass every Wednesday at 8:45am. We ask that anyone that is attending check in with the school office before going to the worship space. You must be in the worship space by 8:45am. Please be prompt. No one will be allowed to enter through the exterior worship space doors. Once mass is over you may exit from the worship space without checking out in the office. Thank you.

St. Paul Parish Multi-purpose Center

Looking for a volunteer opportunity? We are looking for a variety of lunchroom volunteers to help Mr. Carlos and a St. Paul staff member from 11:00 am - 12:15 pm. Duties would be assisting students with lunch, supervision and cleaning tables after students exit. Any volunteers would have to be VIRTUS trained. If you are interested, click this link to sign up. Check in at the office when you arrive.

As a reminder any adults that want to volunteer in any capacity must be virtus trained. Virtus Training Programs maximize the Church's role as a child-safe environment. It begins with making adults more aware of the ways children and adults interact with each other. The program educates and trains adults about the dangers of abuse, the warning signs of abuse, the ways to prevent abuse, the methods of properly reporting suspicions of abuse and responding to allegations of abuse. All Virtus training programs incorporate proven best practice standards for prevention of abuse by clergy, staff, volunteers, and others who interact with children within the Church and school environment. The training incorporates live training, education and awareness videos, and ongoing web based training through online training bulletins and training modules. To complete your training prior to any volunteer experience, please visit virtusonline.org , select First Time Registrant - and you can begin the process to enroll and/or view a list of available sessions. Our diocese is listed as Kansas City in Kansas (Archdiocese). There will be a Spanish and English training at St. Paul in September that you can register for through that link. Thank you!!!

This week we will be posting the PTO, Technology, and Elective (6-8 only) Fees on FACTS. If you have already paid these fees, please allow a few days for those payments to be processed in FACTS. Please contact the office if you have any questions at 913-764-0619.

The link to the spirit wear store with our new LIONS logo can be found here. It will be opened for a limited time. Act fast! Once you order and pay through the webstore the items will be delivered to school and handed out to students in just a few short weeks. Thank you to Summer Barczak for getting the spirit wear store up and running. We will have other purchase options throughout the year.

It is so great to have all the students back in the building looking sharp in their uniforms. Please refer to the handbook for specifics on what is allowed and what is not. There is information on correct uniform, shoes and hair length.
