Happy Mother's Day!
Dear Atholton Families,
Happy Mother’s Day! I hope everyone has taken the opportunity to express their gratitude to all our mothers and the work they do day in and day out to support their families. I truly appreciate all our mothers do to support our school. THANK YOU! I hope you have found a way to honor our mothers and those that fill that role in our lives.
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) month. Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) are an integral part of the American cultural mosaic, encompassing a wide range of diversity. AAPI communities consist of approximately 50 ethnic groups speaking over 100 languages, with connections to Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Hawaiian, and other Asian and Pacific Islander ancestries. Please take a moment to learn more about AAPI events taking place this month here.
This was a busy week for the Class of 2022! We had our first “official” meeting to discuss graduation at Merriweather and the final week of school. Please refer to our website for more information regarding graduation and senior events. I cannot stress how important it is for ALL student obligations to be cleared (including the returning of HCPSS Chromebooks and chargers) BEFORE graduation tickets are distributed.
The Junior/Senior Prom took place yesterday at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. The first school-sanctioned prom in two years was exciting not only for our upperclassmen but for teachers and administrators as well! It was so nice greeting students as they arrived decked out in their tuxedos and prom dresses. They all seemed to have a great time! Thank you to the PTSA for hosting the After Prom Party!
Last week was Staff Appreciation Week and our PTSA, along with the support and backing of our school community, truly showed our staff how much they are appreciated! On behalf of the entire AHS staff, thank you!
Lastly, I forgot to include Ashley Beyer in my recognition of those students who work tirelessly to plan our StressLess Day. Thank you Ashley for all of your hard work. Stay tuned as we are working on one more piece of our mental health awareness at Atholton.
Have a terrific week!
Warmest regards,
Robert A. Motley
