FAC Weekly Update
September 8, 2023
Good Afternoon, FAC Family
We hope that you had a wonderful week! Here's the latest from the halls of the FAC...
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
From This Week's "3-2-1" Newsletter, by James Clear
"Enough courage to get started + enough sense to focus on something you’re naturally suited for + enough persistence to stay in the game long enough to catch a few lucky breaks + a lot of hard work. There’s your recipe."
"People spend a lot of time talking about other people's bodies, gossiping about other people's relationships, critiquing other people's business, etc.
Keep your eyes on your own paper. Work on your body. Nurture your relationships. Improve your business.
We all have plenty to improve."
"Many people view their habits and routines as obstacles or, at the very least, obligations to get through. Making the morning coffee, driving your kids to the next activity, preparing the next meal—we often see our routines as chores to be completed.
But these are not moments to be dismissed. They are life. Making coffee can be a peaceful ritual—perhaps even a fulfilling one—if done with care rather than rushed to completion. It’s about the amount of attention you devote to these simple moments, and whether you choose to appreciate them or bulldoze through them on the way to the next task.
Find the beauty and joy in your daily rituals and you will find beauty and joy in your daily life. To love your habits is to love your days, and to love your days is to love your life."

Parent Engagement
Thank you - from the FAC Faculty and Staff
Many thanks to the FAC Parent Guild for the coffee truck that was stationed outside of the FAC on Tuesday morning! The good folks from https://www.thewanderingbeancafe.com/ provided our faculty and staff with a free coffee drink and a pastry, and our students had the opportunity to purchase a drink from the truck as well. We really appreciate the support of our amazing FAC parents!
From the FAC Parent Guild
Thank you to everyone who has joined! Our first Staff Appreciation last week (a coffee truck) for the teachers was an amazing success and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Mark your calendar for an important evening presentation! On Tuesday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the FAC Recital Hall, Mr. Popat will present a program for parents on the ways that they can support the FAC. Topics of discussion will include:
- The FAC Parent Guild - what they do and how you can participate
- The FAC Partners - how they support our students and how you can get involved
- The FAC Wish List - what our students need and what you can do to help us get it
- Where your donation goes - areas of impact, progress we are making
- How you can make an impact with or without a donation
The event is for parents only - not for students or small children due to limited seating in the Recital Hall. The program will be livestreamed and recorded for those who cannot attend in person. However, please note that Mr. Popat is significantly more entertaining when seen live in-person. :-)

FAC Wish List
Greenville County Schools provides us with a generous budget that allows us to meet the educational needs of our students and faculty. However, as a pre-professional training ground for aspiring artists, we will at times need to augment what we are given in order to meet professional industry standards. Unrestricted donations to the Fine Arts Center Partners are always welcome, though we know that some community members prefer to give towards specific needs. For that reason, we have created the FAC Wish List.
Please click on the following link to access the list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Wr_aHAWv3NUTw1e3Oqzb8lUAs6u3zRNXdUPiU24c7Es/edit?usp=sharing. You can donate funds to the FAC Partners for the purchase of an item on the Wish List, thereby gaining the tax benefit of giving to a 501c3 Non-Profit.
This document will be updated regularly. Please reach out to Mr. Popat with any questions.
