May 9 Meeting Highlights
Key Items
Wayne High School Top 10 Seniors were recognized with a video tribute, gift, and certificate for their accomplishments.
The Board of Education approved very generous donations to HHCS from the YMCA to support facilities throughout the district.
The Board approved a resolution to support the development of a military Wall of Honor at Wayne High School. A brief presentation on this proposed project was given prior to approval.
The Board approved a contract for the replacement/renovation of the track at Wayne High School’s Heidkamp Stadium, which has been a long-term planning effort. Funding for this project will be through district Permanent Improvement funds, not the general fund. The project is expected to be completed by mid-August.
The curriculum department presented professional development planning, resource updates, and preparations for the next school year.

Board approval/correction of the 2022-2023 school calendar to reflect the last day of school as Early Release for students.
Approval of six updated/new Board Policies provided by OSBA.
Presentation and approval of the May Five Year Forecast.
Superintendent Update
Mr. Enix introduced PR Specialist Kelsi Steinkamp, replacing current specialist Neej Mescher. Mrs. Mescher has served HHCS as a part-time specialist contracted through the MCESC since January and will be reassigned to the ESC full time in June. Miss Steinkamp is completing onboarding with the ESC and being introduced throughout HHCS during the coming weeks. Her part-time role will start on June 1.
The fourth quarterly Strategic Plan progress report of the year was provided. Analysis of progress and recommendations for revisit/revision, along with a potential timeline of events for 2023-2024, was shared with the Board of Education.
The final Community Chat for 2022-2023 will be on May 17 at 5:00 pm at Classic Pizza. Community Chats will resume in June.
Treasurer's Report
The monthly financial report was provided which showed revenue and expenses in alignment with projections.
The five year forecast shows improvement from November, which reflects the $1.7M cost savings package approved in February and reallocation of federal grants (ESSER) to offset general fund expenses.
