Help your child and make life easier for you by setting a routine:

• Give yourself and child the time you all need to get ready in the morning
• Plan the night before by having your child set out clothes, decide on breakfast and lunch (unless eating at school), and have your child put what they need for the next day in his/her backpack
• Set a regular bedtime
• Limit electronics
• Help your child relax and model reading with a bedtime story

We'd love some snacks for our office, sensory room and counseling office. If you'd like to donate, please drop them off at the office. Examples include graham crackers, goldfish, pretzels, saltines, and granola bars. Our student stomachs thank you!

Stewy Baby books were delivered to the students who won the writing contest last year and are now published as real authors or illustrators. We will be sending out an order form to all families if you'd like to order a copy. They are $5.99 each and all proceeds will go straight back to the Companion Animal Center. We encourage all of our Fernan students to be authors or illustrators!

While we love your furry friends, please keep dogs home during arrival and dismissal time. Keeping our students and families safe is our number one priority, and with a near incident last year, we appreciate your cooperation. Obviously service animals are permitted, as well as animals enhancing curriculum (district policy).

Families in Idaho can now view the 2023-2024 income guidelines and apply for free and reduced-price meals for the upcoming school year. Free and reduced-price meals are available for eligible students. Eligibility is determined by household size and income, and categorically eligible students qualify automatically for free meal benefits. Qualifying students receive meals or milk free of charge, or may pay a reduced price of no more than 40 cents for lunch and 30 cents for breakfast. Do you think your child is interested in getting involved in the Student Advisory Group? He/she can ask his/her teacher for an application and recommendation.

SAG Representatives’ Responsibilities

• Discuss issues that students and/or administrators believe warrant attention and affect students directly;

• Represent the views of the student body to the complete Student Advisory Group;

• Accurately communicate factual Board activities and information to the student body, without bias or agenda of the individual student; and

• Abide by all applicable sections of the Board Members’ Code of Ethics

• Attend all SAG meetings and bring all needed materials as will be instructed by the adviser.

POSITION: Behavior Support Assistant (PT 19.75 hrs/wk)

LOCATION: Fernan Elementary

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To foster leadership skills and help students resolve personal, emotional and social problems that may interfere with their adjustment to school or their ability to achieve academic success.

QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Counseling or related field, successful experience working with at-risk students, and must be able to work as a positive team player. Candidates must be Highly Qualified per the Federal Government standards. (Must have an AA degree or higher, or at least 32 academic semester credits from an accredited college or university, or have passed the Paraprofessional Praxis Exam).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Candidates must have vision and hearing to successfully supervise, manage, and assist school-aged students.
