How about that weekend weather last week? Bluebird skies and crisp, cool temperatures. It was a dream for outdoor winter enthusiasts - hopefully you were able to get outside and enjoy some sunshine. Fingers crossed Mother Nature smiles on us again this weekend.
It's a slow news week for this week's bulletin but there are a ton of pictures from the Valentine's Day activities throughout the school.
Remember, there is NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!
COMMUNITY CONNECTION CORNER - Ms. Chelsea, our amazing social worker, is now providing a "Community Connection" snippet weekly in our newsletter. This amazing addition to our weekly newsletter will provide suggestions and helpful hints we can all use to help build healthy relationships.

Lottery and Registration
Our registration is looking great for next school year. If you received an email from the lottery telling you your sibling was selected, you MUST have the entire registration completed by Sunday evening as we run the general lottery on Monday. If you do not have the process completed, including the required paperwork, your spot will be put back into the lottery for the general draw on Monday, February 19. There is only a remote chance another spot will open up for your student for the upcoming year.
For the general lottery we have approximately the following number of spots open.
Kindergarten = 28
1st Grade = 4
2nd Grade = 4
3rd Grade = 5
4th Grade = 2
5th Grade = 5
6th Grade = 3
For friends and family interested in entering the lottery, the link is:
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) are a less than a month away. Our PTCs are held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, March 6 - 8. School is released early, at 1:30, on Wednesday, March 6, and there is NO SCHOOL on Thursday or Friday, March 7 and 8.
Classroom teachers will send a link for a sign up to schedule a day/time to meet for parent teacher conferences. Parents who wish to meet with the special education teachers can email them and schedule a meeting (Chad@BridgeCharter.org and Dianne.Kesley@BridgeCharter.org).
KIDS READ NOW Grant
Once again we were approved for the Kids Read Now grant which sends home FREE books to all of our K-3 students during the summer. Students will get THREE books between June and August which are mailed to the address in Aspire. Teachers will select the books according to the student's reading level.
Parents may OPT OUT of this program by completing this form:
FIELD DAY DONATIONS NEEDED
We are planning for our Field Day bash which is the last day of school - Thursday, May 30 (this is also a short day). For Field Day kids will participate in: bounce houses, face painting, yard games, water activity, magician, school movie, yearbook signing, and an outdoor BBQ.
We are requesting donations of the following items. Bring any items into the office.
- Cans of soda (any kind especially the fun flavors in Shasta or the other off brand names)
- Prizes kids can win at the Games. IDEAS - new toys from kid's meals, items bought in bulk at Zurchers or Oriental Trading, bulk items from the Dollar store.
Maturation
At Bridge, instead of having a "maturation night" for 5th grade students which other schools typically do, we opt to provide parents the information so they can determine how much they want to share with their child and at which age they want to share it. For many girls, by the time they are in 5th grade they have already started menstruation and it is a little too late for a lesson on maturation. We believe parents can best determine what students should know about maturation and puberty, and when a child should know it.
Our maturation committee met and reviewed information from different sources. They determined, and our Board approved, to use the maturation information provided by Provo School District. The maturation information includes videos and packets for girls and boys that you can download and share with your child.
This is the link to the MATURATION information.
Social Emotional Learning and Visible Learning - Family Connection
Social Emotional Learning resources for families and students to promote a stronger sense of self identity, mental health, and create a safer school environment. Our Visible Learning Traits (flexibility, determination, reflection, taking initiative, thoroughness, and enthusiasm) tie into Social Emotional Learning at Bridge!

Robin Price
Hi, my name is Robin Price. I have been at Bridge Charter Elementary for 4 years. I enjoy interacting with the children in all grades. I also enjoy helping them understand different techniques to learn concepts taught in small group instruction.
I also work a part time job with individuals who have intellectual disabilities. I help them by teaching independent living skills. (Things like doing their laundry, making dinner and paying for their own meal at a restaurant)
During my free time I enjoy crafting. I also love going fishing. (when the weather is warm) And cheering for the Ogden Raptors, as well as the Atlanta Braves! I also love spending time with my family, playing card and board games. My family loves to play "Bat-Woman" (Badminton) We also love to BBQ! My nieces and nephews have my heart!

Gailon Tucker
I am Gailon Tucker. I joined the Army when I was a teenager as a Military Policeman. After leaving the Army I got into computers and worked the next 30 years in IT and networking.
I retired from the Government in 2015, but Mrs. Tucker said retirement was not for me, so I started working in the schools with Mrs. Tucker and Mrs. Rounds. For the last few years I have worked with 2nd grade P90 reading, ELL students, teaching Algebra and Chess to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade special groups. This has been such a learning adventure and I have loved it!
I enjoy photography, cooking, reading, traveling, and being a bullfrog.

Trish Child
Hello, My name is Ms.Trish. I work with students in 1st-4th with specialized reading groups and Virtual Field Trip to the fun 1st grade on Fridays.
I am lucky to have 2 children, their spouses and 4 granddaughters in my life. My hobbies are travel, design, reading, camping and gardening. I enjoy working in local theaters as a prop master and creating set dressing/design.
I love making connections and bringing a joy of reading to students at Bridge. Novel studies are my favorite with the kids. I get to help bring the excitement of learning about characters and deeper meaning from the books. I love that I get to bring my joy of crafts and design into virtual field trip and travel “virtually” around the world with your kids! I personally think I have the best job here!
Brenda Hay
Hello, my name is Brenda Hay. I am married to Eric and have four children and two darling grandchildren. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, playing games, reading, crafting, watching movies and camping.
It is a privilege working in P90. We have a great team and amazing students. I have never cried more happy tears than I have this year to see the growth our students have made in reading fluency. I’m so proud of all their hard work. I love Bridge and I love our Bullfrogs!dfsdfs
Visible Learning - Initiative
I will...
- Do what is right before I am told.
- Not put off until later what I can do now.
- Do my part for the team.
- Be part of the solution rather than the problem.
- Look for ways to help others.
By using these visible learning traits each day students will become lifelong learners who are set up for success. Please use this same verbiage at home and recognize when your student is using this trait.

Volunteers
- Cutting Watch Me Learn tickets (stop by the office).
- Pulling weeds in the rock areas and park strips (we have all the area in front of the school and up 4800 S along the school fence).
- Sorting construction paper into like colors (stop by the office).
- Using rakes and shovels to redistribute the gravel from the bottom of the retention area in front of the school to the top area to cover the black landscape screen.
- Parking lot duty before and after school (just check in at the office, put on a yellow vest and talk to Travis in the crosswalk for instructions).
Once your family has volunteered 30 hours they can stop by the front office and ask for a VOLUNTEER FROG. There is no formal tracking program - just track the hours yourself. Then, write your family's name on the frog and tape the frog on our volunteer pond in the front foyer.
If you want to volunteer but do not have the time, you can donate $90 to cover the 30 hours. If you choose to donate, complete the volunteer form. You can donate in the office or by using our DONATE icon on the home page of our website.
Volunteering or donating is OPTIONAL and is not required to be a student or a parent of a student at Bridge Elementary.
