Fall Sports
Dear Methacton Families and Community,
The Methacton High School has won the PIAA District One Sportsmanship Award for the second straight year. MHS has received this distinction by being voted on by our league member schools. This award recognizes our student athletes in playing the game on and off the field with grace and humility in a win or lose competition.
Congratulations to our student athletes for winning this award!
Go Warriors!
Sincerely,
John M. Smink
Director of Athletics and Activities
Cheerleading
The Varsity Cheerleaders had a blast at the Pink Out game on Friday! The team cheered hard for the Warriors, and are proud of them!
The team is excited to be working with Arcola this week for Homecoming! It is always fun to have our little sisters on the track with us. Pep Rally is Friday and they are pumped to show off a bit of what they've been working on. Let's go Warriors!!

Girls Cross Country
The 2023 Girls X-C Team finished off the last week of the regular X-C season with a 15-50 victory over the undermanned visiting Norristown team. Senior Molly Thomas led the way by finishing 1st overall at Heebner Park.
The Team will compete in the PAC Championship race on Thursday, October 19th at our Home course, Heebner Park in Worcester. The Varsity 7 will race at 3:05 and the JV at 4:15.
The Varsity 7 will then continue on to the District Championship Meet held on the Athletic campus of Lehigh University on Friday, October 27th. These runners are racing for the opportunity to compete at "States."
Field Hockey
The week of October 9th had the field hockey team finishing up their regular season schedule. JV finished out their schedule with a win, loss, and a tie in the books. Monday, they faced Owen J and won 2-1. Tuesday’s game against Spring-Ford ended in a decisive 3-0 win. Thursday the team played a nail biter against Boyertown that ended in a tie. The JV team finishes their season with a record of 6-2-4.
The varsity team started their week off with a 5-2 win against Owen J, led by junior captain Carmela Maro who had a hat trick against the Wildcats. Tuesday, the Warriors took Spring-Ford into overtime. Lily DeWan had the game winning goal on a stroke 3 minutes into overtime. Friday, the team started out the game by celebrating the 10 seniors on the team, followed up by another tough game against Boyertown. Unfortunately, this game ended in a 3-1 loss for the team.
The team looks forward to this week as they travel to Upper Perk to play the Tribe in the PAC Semi-final game on Tuesday at 6:00 pm. The team has high aspirations of making a long run in the post season.
Players of the practice this week:
Renee Blake (senior) - Renee’s skill level and tempo was very consistent throughout the entire practice. Her individual skills, hustle, effort, and leadership has been exceptional all season long.
Paige Micilcavage (freshman) - Paige entered every practice this season with a focus on soaking up as much information as she could to improve. She has always been dedicated to being the best hockey player she can be, even extending her practice time by working on skills at home. Paige has improved a ton this season and it’s all due to her persistence and effort during practice.

Football
The Warriors played the top team in the PAC Liberty division this past Friday Night. While the Warriors came up on the wrong side of a 30-6 game, the team showed some bright spots. Anthony Perillo returned to the defensive side of the ball and played very well. Offensively, Junior Nick Remish, stepped in at QB and threw a touchdown pass to Wesley Conover for the Warriors lone score. The final score was indicative of the effort given by the team. DJ Ballinger and Collin ONeill continue lead the team as captains. The team looks to regroup and take on Owen J Roberts this Friday for Homecoming.
Boys Golf
This past week saw the conclusion of the Season for the Methacton Golf Team. The team had one District qualifier, Junior Matt Rieger, who competed this past Monday and Tuesday. Matt finished Day 1 in a tie for 4th place among 108 golfers. After a tough Day 2, Matt narrowly missed out on a trip to states.
Congratulations to all the golfers that competed this year! You were truly gentlemen of the game.
Girls Golf
Kate Thomas (12) finished 10th in the PIAA District I Golf Tournament on October 9th and 10th. She missed a bid to play in the State tournament by one place. District I sends the top 9 girls to the State Tournament.
Boys Soccer
The Boys’ Soccer team closed out their season with three games in the final week. Game one was against Spring Ford. The game was much closer than the final score would indicate but our inability to put the ball in the net bit us again. The boys fell 0-3 with Man of the Match honors going to Cole Larcinese for repeatedly generating chances that we just couldn’t finish.
Game two was against a Boyertown team that came in with something to prove and with our boy’s season coming to a close Boyertown just wanted it more than we did. Man of the Match honors to Ethan Kumar for having a great game despite the final score of 1-6.
Game three and the final game of the season was against a solid CB South squad that got all they could handle. Our inability to finish attacks is the only reason this one fell into the loss column as the Warrior boys controlled most of the game in this 1-3 loss. Man of the Match honors for this one are going to Josh Retzlaf for banging in the final goal of the season and the first of his high school career in the final seconds.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team played one of their better games of the season against league leading Spring Ford, but lost a close one 2-1. Aubrey Beaugard scored her 19th goal of the season, from a great assist and hustle play by Ella Hopwood, to tie the score at 1.
The team then traveled to Boyertown for the Lady Bear’s senior night. Despite several spectacular saves from freshman goalkeeper Anna Qawasmy and strong midfield play by Kendall Ricca, Nina Tommarello, Maddie Washburn, and Ella Hopwood, the Warriors lost 3-0.
They will finish their season at home this Thursday night against non-league foe Harriton.
Girls Tennis
Another busy week for our two eligible doubles team. Both teams of Lauren Montgomery/Anika Suresh, and, Claire Montgomery/Chelsea Lian competed in the semis and finals of PAC 10 doubles. Both teams played Springford's doubles and came out strong with losing in these epic matches. Our two warrior doubles teams then moved on to the last round and placed 3rd and 4th in the championship. The final outcome was Lauren Montgomery and Anika Suresh being our third place team and Claire Montgomery and Chelsea Lian taking the 4th place spot.
The Methacton girls will now participate next Thursday at Doubles Districts at the Springfield Healthplex. They continue to prepare for their upcoming competition. In addition, our singles player, Hana Nouaime is training daily with hope of winning her 3rd State Championship on Nov 2 in Hershey.
Go Warriors!
Volleyball
Last week the volleyball team went 1-2 overall. The week started with a disappointing loss to Spring-Ford 3-0. Wednesday we traveled to Boyertown and lost a tough one 3-1 on their Dig Pink night. There was a lot of emotion in the gym due to the large crowd and Boyertown came out playing well. It was disappointing for the girls. We took that emotion into our senior night on Thursday where we celebrated our 7 seniors who have had wonderful volleyball careers. We were able to secure a win in our last match of the regular season against Upper Perkiomen as we celebrated them. This week we will compete in the PAC final four starting on Tuesday night at 7pm at PV against PJP.
