Here At JRB

Mother Nature has not given us too much to complain about in terms of snow accumulation, but we all know it is coming sooner or later. That is where our boot and coat requirements come in. We love to head out into the flakey white outdoors, but students need boots in order to do so. If they have boots, they will also need a change of shoes for inside to keep their feet dry. Once we get to some deeper snow, we will then require snow pants to play in the snow. Our goal is for kids to get outside and have fun, but we need them to be dry and warm when we continue our school day.

Just as around Thanksgiving, we are certainly looking to make sure everyone has what they need (or even some wants) during the holidays. If you could use some assistance, we have a few programs that are ready to help families. Please reach out to jrbholiday@awrsd.org and we will try our best to make the holidays as bright as possible. Again, if you want to help anyone during this time of year, we can assist you with that as well.

Nurse Flis retired from the AWRSD as of December 1st. Mrs. Flis has been an amazing staff member here for around 10 years, and she will be missed by both students and staff alike. We have been lucky enough throughout the school year to have Abby Shea with us for multiple extended periods. Nurse Shea is now our permanent nurse at JRB and the transition has been seamless.

Nurse Shea wants to remind everyone that it is greatly appreciated when people explain what is wrong when calling out a student. She is also just very excited to be here consistently! You can reach Nurse Shea at ashea@awrsd.org.

Kindergarteners have been very busy learning how to read, say, and play their Takadimi rhythms with Rhythm Sticks! All K classes will soon begin learning how to play Boomwhackers, which are rainbow-colored plastic tubes that each play a different pitch when hit on the hand!

1st and 2nd graders have begun playing songs on the Boomwhackers, which are rainbow-colored plastic tubes that each play a different pitch when hit on the hand! Some classes are also playing the chords of each song with their Boomwhackers! Ask your child to tell you what a chord is.

3rd, 4th & 5th graders have been doing an awesome job with playing xylophones and metallophones, which are barred instruments played with mallets. Most students have begun choosing a song from the song binders to play for their class! Ask your child to tell you the difference between xylophones and metallophones, and which type of mallet is used for each.

Our JRB Chorus, Beginner Band, and Concert Band will be performing at our Winter Concert on Wednesday, 12/15/21, at 7pm in the JRB Cafetorium! All are invited to attend!

Square 1 Art orders have been taken, but we do not know the exact date of delivery yet. We will reach out to families once that date has been provided to us.

The Holiday Shop starts on Monday. Students from each class have been sent home with forms of how to shop. We hope you enjoy this new holiday tradition.

North Central Mass Sting Registrations are now open! Sting Lacrosse is an organization that promotes the game of lacrosse, sportsmanship, teamwork, and athleticism. We welcome players of all abilities and our goal is to teach kids the proper skills, along with training and conditioning, so they get an understanding of the game and develop a lifelong love for lacrosse!
We are offering teams for boys and girls in grades K – 8 for the 2022 season to interested players in the Ashburnham/Westminster and surrounding area. Register by 12/31/2021 to receive a $25 discounted registration fee. Visit ncmlax.net for more details.
